My Wednesday Attitude
I recently watched Spike Lee's fllm, 25th Hour.  We follow Monty (Edward Norton) through his final day of freedom before he heads to prison.  What I like about the film is that it's not really about drugs and dealing, but it's about the choices people make and the consequences that come along with those choices.  It examines the fine line between what it means to be a good and bad person and questions our quota on morality.  For example, we know Monty is going to prison for his activity in the drug world but beyond that, Lee shows us a side of Monty where he is ultimately a good son, friend, boyfriend, and overall person while we see his best friend, Jacob (Philip Seymour Hoffman), as a supposedly goody two-shoes school teacher but ends up kissing his underage student (Anna Paquin). Â
Spike Lee does a tremendous job with 25th Hour. Â His famous visual style combined with a thought-provoking, passionate story and amazing cast, makes it a top notch movie watching experience.

Embrace your limitations in filmmaking. Â You don't need a million dollars to have a million people see your film. Â Watched this short today and absolutely loved it. Â Check it out.

How to do the Bluth’s Chicken Dance.
has anyone in this family ever seen a chicken??
So a few days ago, I saw Silver Linings Playbook.  I have been seeing tons of movies lately and I hate giving the stamp of "best movie I've seen...blah blah blah."  But this was definitely one of the best that I've seen lately.  David O'Russell faced a challenged that he mastered beautifully.  He took on serious subjects such as bipolar disorder, adultery, and just straight up sadness and made them multidimensional.  He gave these characters something more than just having a disorder.  Their humanity and self worth was shining through the entire plot.  The setting of working-class Philadelphia which he has explored before in The Fighter, gave the film a tough yet passionate backdrop.  Its a city that most people despise but the people from there have a passion that makes NY or LA pride look like none at all. There is a realness with a quirky twist which made it extremely entertaining.  Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence made a great pair.  It was nice to actually see Cooper be the great actor we all know he can be.  Lawrence continues to be as diverse as always.  Her characters have dramatically shifted from Winter's Bone to Hunger Games to this.  I also loved that although her character was super depressed, she was able to be prideful of herself (something I felt I could relate to).  Anyways...this was a fantastic and unique film that everyone should definitely see.Â

Hunter S. Thompson, John Cusack & Johnny Depp driving. With a sex doll. You’re welcome.
About two days ago, I finished reading David Mamet's The Shawl and Prairie Du Chien.  Both of these plays stood out amongst his famous works like Glengarry Glen Ross and Oleanna because they brought a little something that Mamet is definitely not know for and that is plot.  These two plays were super plot heavy and did not have the vulgar language or tone that usually persists among his plays.  But he does tend to use the theme of "con" and that was definitely apparent.  While reading both, I did miss the fast and coarse dialogue, but if I had to look at them from a first time Mamet reader perspective I would say that were quite good.  One of the things I loved was the mysticism of it all.  Mamet messes with your sense of trust and judgement.  He is the master of the mindfuck.  Definitely take a look.
Side note: It's a super fast read
