So, I'm working on a giant rewrite project for fun with some folks, and I thought it'd be fun to share progress here. Characters, Worldbuilding, Story arcs, all that fun stuff.
Starting off with the Sunshine Princess herself.
Not much change. I gave her more of her movie color palette overall, and wanted to include her end of movie pink dress. Also changing the skirt under her coronation dress, as I imagine it's supposed to be more of a chemise.
I wanted to give her a little more variety (or rather, an excuse to include her green dress) in her everyday wear, including a gardening fit (because let's face it, she'd love gardening and being down in the dirt).
Also stayed mostly the same, except pants. Her skirt is removable, a feminine touch fitting with her style, but with loose comfy pants underneath for those times where a skirt might not be the most suitable.
I wanted to keep the general silhouette the same, but with some big changes. For one, I wanted her dress to reflect more of Corona's purple and gold colors, as this is her stepping up in her role as future Queen. But also, I wanted aspects of the Sundrop Flower in her design. The petal like panels on her dress, yellow underskirt, and the yellow stem like design embroidered on her bodice.
I'll show pajamas, Queen for a Day, and beach outfits all together with everyone, so they're not included for now.
Additionally, I did give her ballet like slippers for special events or days in the city, a compromise that still allows her flexibility and comfort, while protecting her feet and being good for special appearances.
She actually doesn't change much, but I do want to focus more on aspects of her from the movie that seemed to be forgotten at times during the show. Like, this girl is smart. She charted stars from her limited view in the tower, and learned many different skills on her own time. And after everything, she doesn't just accept things without asking follow-up questions and getting confirmation.
As well as making some minor changes to some moments that felt... a little out of character, as well as giving her space to unpack and handle her trauma.
