Ah! How annoying! And yet, despite being perfectly capable of coming up with a witty comeback, she becomes a little indignant.

❝ Aoko is allowed to be hostile! It’s not like you came back to see me happy! ❞ 

She squints a little bit, for a moment, understanding that a joke was being made, but what– oooooh, dude, nice; she fuckin’ loves herself some good ol’ fashion pocket monsters. True to the Himura© brand, though, she reacts dramatically, throwing one hand to her chest.

“ Aoko! that’s incredible– once again, it’s proven, I found the most amazing and beautiful girl in the world. To think, what might have become of us if not for your bravery and herosim! ” she congratulates wholeheartedly, before laughing, and squeezing Aoko’s hand. “ it’s truly a debt we can never repay, but if you’d take a humble reward, I’d like to try. 

How about…. dinner and a movie? If you don’t have any other plans for the night, of course, I know hero-ing can be a busy job.” cough. 

If Emi hadn’t taken her hand, Aoko might’ve just hidden her face away with it. A waterfall of compliments is something she should be used to by now-- But she’s not. Not from the most attractive woman in the world. Her lips curve into a light, fond smile, Aoko bringing their hands up so she can rest the back of Emi’s hand against her cheek.

❝ Emi-chan... Any plans I have can definitely be put on hold for an adventure with you. ❞

“Christmas?…Of course we have it.”

   A festive time of year to share with family and loved ones.It was hard for him to celebrate such a holiday considering he lost his loved one long ago.And being imprisoned in ice for over a hundred years well…doesn’t help his case in the slightest.Sure he celebrates with his crew on the Lumiere but..it get’s alittle lonely.      He brought up a small smile.Talking like usual seems abit tiring.Compared to his last visit he rather not worry Aoko any further.His mind at the time taken a dark turn and after some self reflecting he hope he was doing better.Though the thoughts still linger….

‘There’s snow ,tree’s and presents.It almost looks the same like here Aoko.’

... He’s acting odd again. You can’t fake a smile towards a faker of smiles. Was it Mister Shinigami again--? Last time they spoke, he mentioned ‘dying a few times’, though she couldn’t take it as a literal term. He was still breathing and attempting to hide broken pieces in front of her.

❝ Well, Christmas is Aoko’s favourite time of the year! So that means you’re going to get wrapped up in it too! ❞

A small pun, Aoko winking a little cheekily at the man in front of her. Perhaps it would have been better for Aoko to ignore Christmas when he’s around if it gives him such hurtful feelings-- But she couldn’t do that. Christmas meant a lot to her, and selfishly... She wanted to at least show him that she cares about him.

There’s such an immediate sense of peace that comes over her with Aoko’s touch. She cants her head a bit in response, resting her temple against the other’s hair and breathing a relaxed sigh.

“ I missed you, too; I always do. ” after another brief squeeze for emphasis, she leans back and looks her beloved in the eye. It’s a familiar look– one that speaks all the adoration which she’d repeat over and over. “ You ‘been up ta’ anything crazy lately? I know it hasn’t been so long, but I imagine I probably missed some kind of excitement. ”

Instantaneously, she could feel the detective relax in her arms, as if a huge weight had been lifted from her chest with a simple touch. Words are spoken in silence with a look, making Aoko a little bit bashful. There isn’t really a moent in the day where Emi isn’t praising her for one thing or another--

❝ Oh, y’know... While Emi was being a super awesome detective, Aoko was taking down a crime syndicate that profits off stolen animals and wanted to take over the world! Aoko won, of course. ❞

A firm nod--

The detective only continues to laugh, giving the girl a little turn through the air as she does, 

“ Ah! Curses– exploiting my weakness for Aoko’s hugs! so soon! you really don’t hold anything back! ” Emi laments, dramatic tone complimented by a sigh. She does, of course, oblige, allowing Aoko down to her ground and releasing the hold on her for a moment.

“ Well, I guess I’ll just have to admit defeat this time, but consider yourself lucky– ” she jokes as Aoko turns, before opening her arms once more. “ Good afternoon, my dearest. As I’m sure plenty have told you, you look especially beautiful today. ”

The second her feet touch the ground, she stops giggling. Instead, a bright grin is on her face as she turns, pulling Emi into a big hug. Her head rests by the detective’s ear, nose brushing against her cheek.

❝ Mooou, it’s like you don’t see how beautiful you are, sometimes... ❞

A slight snicker, arms tightening a little.

「    He watches attentively as Nakamori-san gets to work, ready to guide her with further instructions should she need it. It’s not easy, he can tell with the inconsistent flow in the water created by the other participants, fishes skirting away in quick swerves. It appears to be unneeded, however, because in the next moment she manages to scoop up one goldfish, moving it towards the metal bowl in success, and Shinichi smiles, impressed.

The detective’s about to congratulate her when she turns to look at him with eyes wide, as if she didn’t actually know how she did it.

And she doesn’t, he realizes.

Shinichi blinks back her, slightly taken aback for a second. His smile surfaces again, though, and a soft chuckle follows suit. “ Maybe you’re a natural talent, Aoko-san. ” He had bought the extra scoop for her, just in case the first one breaks, but it seems like it wasn’t so necessary, after all. “ I can tell you again. Do you want to try catch another one ? Hmm… how about one of those if you want ? ” he says, after looking around in the water tank for a moment, a finger of his pointing at a fish with a different appearance from the more common ones.

“ Remember; the whole scoop in the water, angle it to avoid water resistance. Then, while still being careful, swiftly catch the fish and bring it to your bowl. ”    」

Natural talent!? Of course she’s a natural talent! She’s constantly scooping fish up to torture Kaito with--

Nodding quietly, she looks towards the tiny school of goldfish he’s talking about. They do look a lot more unique-- Which probably explains all the tension is the water. Especially with the way that children try ( and sometimes fail ) to capture them with eager smiles and frantic movements. If Aoko wasn’t trying so hard to not look like an idiot in front of Shinichi, perhaps she’d be the same way.

Shaking her head to get rid of all this nervous energy building inside her, she brings her fists by her chest to channel a determined look... Angling her scoop in the water by the fish he pointed at. The fish dips and dives by her scoop, as if dancing and teasing her. Aoko tries to remain focused, trying to poise herself. Quick, yet careful. You can’t be reckless here. This is where you have to be lady-like in your ways...

The fish moves, and she moves with it, eyes squeezed shut as she directs her scoop to the metal bowl, not even looking to see if she had managed to catch it. There’s a moment of silence, where she’s almost waiting to hear a “Almost! You were so close!”, and when it doesn’t come... She reluctantly opens one eye.

❝ ... I did it! I caught Arthur! ❞

It’s a rush of excitement that hits her all at once, Aoko almost toppling the very bowl over as she jumps up. The nervous energy from before is replaced by the buzz of excitement and accomplishment, fists holding up her face. It’s only once it has died down a little that she’s thrusting the scoop towards Shinchi--
