* VESTA TASK #008 _ SAF’S APARTMENT *

located in this historic district, sapphire’s apartment went through quite a few makeovers ever since she moved in. it started as an empty place to crash in between lectures anmd became a melting pot of instagram and pinterest decor. right in between these two extremes lies her grunge phase where everything was black, plum and navy blue. it felt as stuffy as a questionable bar during midterms. the thought of moving out has never even crossed her mind, especially now that she outgrew her need to party every night and is becoming more of an adult than a pale excuse of a social butterfly. she loves the district and it helps that both her campus and her workplace are only a couple of minutes away. not only is she saving on the speeding fines from the police, but she also likes to feel young by discovering all the new hipster spots.

Saskia: Listen to anything by Hozier. Hozier's songs are relaxing.

Saskia: Which makes me think, I haven't heard you sing! I want to hear you singgggg. ♥

SAF: NOTED. Hozier better transport me into an ethereal world or else I'm sueing.

SAF: There's a reason why you have not heard me sing. I don't sing. But I could be talked into it for you...

I wish I could tell the pale excuse of a mother that gave birth to me how crappy she was. Really, she was just on another level of bad parenting. Oh, and I’d like to tell Sas she looks really good when she’s being all nerdy and shit. That’s a secret, though.

Absolutely never. Never have and never plan on failing one. Do you understand why performance anxiety is such a cool thesis topic now? It hits home.

I mean... They’re not that terrible. I ‘m not actively trying to improve them, though, so I’m fine if my bad pick-up lines manage to pick one very specific person.

Keeping secrets is kind of like... My whole career, y’know? Although I’m not forced to keep secrets, that’s just what I have to do. I can go around telling what my patients did, but what’s the point? If their lives or the lives of others are not at risk, I do not have the authority to share their confessions. Unless I feel like teachers or parents should start to worry, but even then... There’s a limit I need to respect. Anyway. I had to lie countless times to save my brother’s ass, so I don’t even care anymore. Every single day I’m forcing myself to lie about my feelings for Sas and I’m not dead yet, it’s not that terrible.

Moon: What are you currently studying/hope to study? 

Psychology. Do I not look like your typical psychology major? Please, don’t answer that. I would love to go back to school eventually, learn more about special education so I could be even more helpful if I decide to stick working in schools for a while. My thesis is on performance anxiety at school and its impact on children and teenagers. It’s very interesting, ask Saskia.

Libra: Favourite colour? 

Bubblegum pink. The more obnoxious the better.

Sunflower Galaxy: Would you date/make friends with someone out of pity? 

If you date somebody out of pity, you’re clearly seeking for validation and admiration for your so-called good intentions and empathy while in fact you’re just playing with someone’s emotions and that, my dudes, is trash. I wouldn’t date out of pity, what the hell? Date somebody because you love them, you idiot. As for being friends... You may call this pity, I call it empathy. It costs absolutely nothing to approach someone who’s lonely and become friends with them, making their day ten times better. Empathy is cool, you should try it.

Quasar: If you could spend the rest of your life with only one person, who would it be? 

My brother. He’s my favorite person on this goddamn planet.

Canopus: Have you ever broken a bone?

I leave all of that to my brother. He broke his ankle, his rib, his wrist, his arm... I lost count. Jett’s a pro at that. I guess that’s how we decided to split things up when we were chilling in the womb. It’s a twin thing. He was going to be fragile, and I could bike my way through the backyard fence every day for ten years and only get a tiny scratch. Maybe my bones are made of metal, maybe I’m Wolverine, maybe it’s Maybelline.

You’re telling me people don’t use crying as a coping mechanism to everything? Why punch a wall when you’re angry when you can cry your feelings out, y’know? Life changing. Grow the fuck up. Crying doesn’t make you weak, it makes you strong for expressing your vulnerability and your emotions. Cat eye liner is overrated anyway, we would benefit a lot as a society if we accepted the whole depressed raccoon look as a new beauty standard.

Pinwheel Galaxy: Would you date the last person you talked to? 

Who would not date her? That’s the real question. She’s like... Man, she’s the real deal. I’m trying to keep it lowkey, y’know, subtle and all that shit. If she hears the butterflies in my stomach squealing whenever she’s near, she could get scared. I’m a lost cause, you don’t need to tell me.

“Besides, bringing a few binder notebooks are totally out of the question for me during my Bachelor’s, up until I finished my PhD. At least when I review, I don’t need to look for another notebook for separate notes. Saves more time and less clutter. I’m glad we agree that dog ears should be banned. I’d be sad if I’d have to judge you for being a dog ears stan,” she joked. “Hah, you underestimate me so much, Saf,” Saskia raised a brow, “I can never tire of reading Biology books. Or anything Science and Medicine related. Ah, fuck it, you underestimate my love for books, Doctor. As for a lame card, you don’t have to. The book and your presence would be enough,” she smiled.

“yeah, same! i carried that two hundred pages ugly notebook and that was it. i was chaotic, i still managed to pass and i was on top of my class, so... i don’t see the point. people who had color coordinated binders and note pads and highlighter charts are suspicious.”  saf laughed softly. “you can judge me for anything else, but this? never.” as saskia gave her a  whole essay about her love for books, she scoffed, trying to hide the fact she found her absolutely adorable. “forgive me, i knew you were a nerd but not i ignored you were that far gone. a nerd who breaks stereotypes, nonetheless!” sapphire added and smiled in return. “you know what we should do? gift exchange! i mean, that’s a tradition at the school anyway, so as a new teacher you’ll probably be forced to participate, but we should do that, together. trying to buy little things that remind us of one another. is that fun or too cheesy?”
