London Bookstore Hop – Stop 2 Persephone Books
This was the stop on my bookstore hop that I was most thrilled for. Persephone Books is a publisher and bookseller of female authors whose works have gone out of print. Their iconic gray covers, careful curation, personalized recommendations, and character of resistance makes this bookstore a must-stop if you’re a book lover in London.
I was there for one of their bestsellers: A Writer’s Diary by Virginia Woolf. Their recommendations that called it a fairy tale and a “love letter to Scotland” convinced me to also try out Lady Rose and Mrs. Memmary by Ruby Ferguson. With each book, you get a bookmark that matches the endpapers, which are different for every book they print.

it’s spring break!! midterms were last week, so i’ve been giving myself the break to NOT think about schoolwork. it’s been exactly what i’ve needed.
i tend to forget about being a person when the pressure gets really high in school, so i’ve been taking the time to cook for myself, read for fun, watch guilt-free netflix, apply to jobs, catch up with friends i haven’t seen in awhile, & even put effort into my appearance.
i’m feeling much more ~myself~ again, & i’m ready to make the most of the days of break i have left. i spent part of today in grace street coffee drinking a matcha latte & re-reading the handmaid’s tale.

reminder to:
straighten your back
go pee goddAMN IT STOP HOLDING IT
go take your meds if you need to
drink some water
go get a snack if you havent eaten in a while
maybe wander around the house/stretch a little if you’ve been sat at the computer a while (artists especially: sTRETCH THOSE WRISTS)
reply to that text/message from earlier you’d forgotten about
maybe send a nice lil message to someone having a bad day?
I just would like to thank everyone who ever reblogs this so that it somehow ends up back on my dash because I usually need the reminder (especially the drinking water one)
honestly fuck people who are like “lol what are you gonna do with that major” when someone says that they’re going to study something that doesn’t typically lead to a high-paying career or to globally-useful breakthroughs. like not only is that incredibly rude and disrespectful, but can we please not disvalue doing something for yourself because you enjoy it? sure maybe studying art or literature might not cure cancer or show how the universe works but it makes people happy, and it may not pay well but not everything is about making money. please just get rid of the idea that a major is only valid or useful if it leads to a well-paying job or brings measurable benefits to a large number of people.

In a Edgar Allan Poe kind of mood because of the stormy weather :)

I find these carrels with views over Bloomsbury completely irresistible. I had a really productive morning here looking through philosophy periodicals (and daydreaming about living in those terraces)
