My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.

I hate cigarettes so much I hate that smoking is becoming cool again I hate that we're becoming contrarian hipsters about this disgusting habit that has literally killed so many people and destroyed so many lives I'm so serious we need to become absolute killjoys about this again it's time to go 90s scolds on cigarettes until the scourge is wiped out entirely.

i hate that diet culture means all the tasty drinks everywhere are loaded with stevia now. this isn't even a stance about health, I just think it tastes so fucking bad

game changer season 8 does have occasional faults but it also understands that for every high concept, You Can Only Get The Experience Of Watching This For The First Time Once episode (i.e., count the rice, noise some makes) there should also be more low stakes, We Made Up A Fun Game For Comedians To Play So You Can Have Fun Watching Them episode (don’t wake s&p, earwigs). season 7 was a slam dunk in terms of high budget twisty personalized torture chambers of unscripted television but that’s just not sustainable for the show in the long run and arguably antithetical to game changer’s first principles. fuck, man, sometimes you put a couple improvisers in silly wigs so that you can name the episode after a pun and that’s like half of the charm. sometimes you just have to let zach reino go whole hog on a fop bit and let that be the show. get back to the basics and leave some room for the insaneo heavy hitters. they can’t all be one year later!!!

they should come up with a positive snake that does something good when it bites you. so it's not just venom every time
