- both of them literally being so done with everyone and making such snarky comments all the time while rolling their eyes. - I can just imagine them teaming up like “alec no offence but I wanna punch your brother in the face 99% of the time” and alec being like “omg do it” like imagine the look of betrayal on jace’s face like “seriously bro wtf” (alec is just joking though although he gets it like jace is hard work). - alec being disgusted when he finds out maia went on a date with simon because “really maia, the vampire?” but then gets outraged when he realises that simon picked clary over maia so he literally goes on and on about how maia deserves better anyway and maia just sits smiling at her friend. - maia always calls alec when she knows he’s stuck in a really boring meeting claiming that there’s an “emergency” that she needs help with just so alec can escape the torture of listening to the clave go on and on. they meet up with magnus if he’s not busy with a client and the three of them go get lunch together instead. - alec finds out that maia can’t eat chocolate anymore because it makes her sick so he asks luke what her favourite types of cake are and ropes magnus into helping him make them for her, hoping that it replaces her love for chocolate. it does, the one alec accidentally messed up by mixing up flavours ends up being her favourite. - maia gets tired of seeing alec and magnus sad over not being able to spend enough time together due to constantly being interrupted, she makes it her mission to act as a wall between them and the outside world. so when clary and jace coming running into the hunters moon looking for magnus and alec, maia’s expression turns fierce and “if you interrupt their date, I swear to god…fix your own problems for a change” and she literally ushers them out the bar, happy that her favourite boys didn’t even notice the shadowhunters come in. - maia and alec always suggesting books for each other to read and constantly bothering one another with texts like “have you finished it yet?” “what part are you on?” “has a certain character been..wait nevermind, spoilers” and as soon as they have actually finished, they meet up and discuss it for hours. magnus jokes that they’ve got their own book club going.

Is it really a competition if I always win?
