he bit his lip lightly. “i know you don’t want this — me — and you want something more stable.” grayson paused, adjusting the snapback on his head. “so if you want me, stay. if you don’t, leave.” truthfully, he hoped she’d pick the first option. her words, ‘just tell me what you want from me’ made him say it. “stay,” he murmured, looking at her with full sincerity.

"d-don't you think i would've left already if i d-didn't want you?" she asked, finally looking up at him. there were tears threatening to spill from her dark eyes, and she was silently cursing how sensitive she was. at his last word, she threw her arms around his torso, burying her face in his chest. "i'm not leaving you, you idiot."

jude listened as he spoke, nodding his head slowly as he continued to trace the scar. “r-really? yo-you’re lucky.” jude murmured. “your gu-guardian angel must h-have been watching o-over you.” the boy mused, nodding his head a little bit. 

He shrugged, watching the boy's finger gently trace the scarred skin on his arm. "I guess. I can't even talk to my two best friends because of it, though. One died, and the other's still in a coma. I was just lucky my sister was sick that day, otherwise she would've been in the car too," he sighed, his voice dropping to a whisper. "That was the end of my football career, though. Lost my scholarship, and my friends. All for a 49ers game."
