It didn’t take very long for Hank to notice that Sanderson Hawkins looked at him strangely every time they met, but it wasn’t the sort of thing he was going to pry about. He assumed that it was probably because the man was constantly hanging around Jen, and had some amount of interest in her, or something like that. Truly, he did not want to pry, because the other option was just the continuing trend of everyone thinking he was still unstable.Â
He’d dodged away from him the first couple of times it happened, assuming that if he showed he didn’t want a confrontation, and continued to avoid Jen, eventually the other man would give up and go back to trying to woo her.Â
Unfortunately, the other man just seemed to be seeking him out more. Jay had acted as a distraction for him a few times, but it was rapidly becoming clear that he was starting to find all this amusing. Hank realized that he had to face the music.Â
He glanced up at the other man, who had hemmed him in against the kitchen counter while he was getting coffee, and took a long sip, immediately scorching his tongue. He coughed, rubbing it against the back of his hand, but the damage was already done.Â
Sand grabbed him by his wrist, pulling his hand away from his mouth, and pressed his own fingers down against the soft, tender flesh. “The burn doesn’t seem too bad,” he said, before Hank could even flinch away.Â
He winced, feeling a slight sting in his tongue, and Sand hadn’t even let go before he admonished him with a garbled: “That’s a bit intimate for strangers, don’t you think?”Â
Something flashed behind Sand’s eyes at that, but he did let go. “I would say that piecing someone’s mind back together is also a bit intimate for strangers.”Â
Ah, he did have to admit that was true. But that had been different. That had been an emergency. And yet he didn’t really have an argument against that, at least not one that sounded right to him.Â
Sand took his coffee mug from him, and took a swig as he leaned back against the kitchen counter. “So, I’ve been having some weird dreams-”Â
