âI wasnât sure youâd show up. But Iâm glad you did.â - Sam
âAfter the wifi fiasco, I was almost surprised you managed to work the phone,â she teased, tossing her purse onto the bar, âbut curiosity got the better of me. Why;d you ask?â

âIâm not sure youâd be able to find stuff like that with an easy Google, Iâd hope people intent on causing some trouble arenât just going to post âon my way to Bon Temps to fuck shit upâ on any social medias but then again, people are idiots,â she thought about it for a second, pursing her lips, âI guess youâd at least benefit from an intro class to at least let you search for articles and the like, Iâll even show you the good porn sites if youâre good.â Really, sheâd probably be able to create a better security net with Centurion but that was entirely out of his scope of skill.
âThatâs why I figured Iâd ask you. Might know where I might be able to find that kind of information I guess. Thereâs a lot of groups and stuff out there, I guess theyâd probably be usinâ the internet too. Maybe not. I donât know but I figured you might be able to help me find out.â Sam offered with small smile, breaking into a laugh at his joke, âoh if Iâm good, huh? What makes you think Iâd be interested in that sort of thing anyhow?â He grinned.Â

âYou want me to teach you the whole internet? Thatâs quite the undertaking,â She couldnât help but be a little suspicious, heâd been so adamant about not being connected up until this point. âIâm not making you a facebook, if thatâs what youâre asking. You can discover that hellhole on your own.â
âNo, no I donât want a facebook,â Sam laughed softly. He wasnât exactly sure how to get what he wanted without tipping Gwen off completely. She wasnât dumb. He had to tread carefully. âWith all the stuff that goes on around here, all the supernatural things, well people talk right? I just figured people might know more or we might be able to get out ahead of some problems if we knew what was cominâ our way.âÂ

âI mean, yea, youâd be able to call for help if needed but forget about call quality,â she laughed before pausing at his words, âinternet? Iâve had to resort to bringing my own hotspot and youâre asking about the internet? Have you finally cracked under the pressure?â
âI guess you heard me enough to come out here anyhow,â Sam shrugged, a sly smirk tugging at his lips. âWell, I guess our last conversation got me to thinkinâ about a few things. Everybody seems to be usinâ it these days. Figured maybe I ought to learn a few things.âÂ

âHey now, the phone works just fine,â he said with a gesture to the old phone behind the bar, âwell, youâre about the only person I know that has more than a basic understandinâ of the Internet around here,â Sam smiled, âcould use some help with a few things.â

đ for a static shock kiss (fred)
@prettyxcrystals
The last customer had shuffled out of Merlotteâs and Lafayette had finished in the kitchen finally leaving Sam and Fred alone. He slid along the bar over to her, leaning in to kiss her. The sharp snap of static electricity halted his affection. âSorry, was that me or you?â He asked with a smile. âGuess you canât say thereâs not a spark,â Sam joked as he gestured a little between them.

Fred looked back up at him, gaining courage from his words that werenât turning her away. âI donât know, Sam, I told you I was once a vessel for the return of a God who carved me out and I somehow manifested again and you took that in stride,â she pushed her glasses up her nose a bit, eyeing him curiously, âI also lived in a hell dimension for a while, Iâd wager Iâm pretty well versed in a lot of things most others might call insane. Like, youâre not eatinâ people, are you?â Her brow furrowed, Angel didnât drink blood but Spike did, though to her knowledge it was only ever pigâs blood when she knew them save for a few soulless events, âI suppose thatâs not even that much of a dealbreaker, I mean I guess if they offered? Willinâ and all..â
âWell, when you put it like that,â Sam couldnât help but smile a little. While the people of Bon Temps had encountered plenty of unusual happenings, the public existence of vampires was more than enough for them to handle. The few who knew about Sam had never initially taken the revelation well. But the more he thought about it, and the way Fred laid it out so plainly, he couldnât understand why heâd hesitated so much. If anyone might understand, itâd be her. âNo, no, Iâm not eatinâ people,â he couldnât help but laugh. Why was that her first assumption? Did he seem like the type? He wasnât going to think too hard on that one. âNo, I, uh, Iâm what they call a shifter,â he said pausing a moment. Heâd never just come out and said it before and while he hoped sheâd understand, he was still nervous, âa shapeshifter.â

She looked down at their connected hands before looking back at him, not pulling her hand away from his but her free one definitely continued to fiddle with one of the spare screws, âI thought maybe you mightâve liked me like that, like the kind of like that involves kissinâ and carinâ about one another.â The blush returned and she glanced back down at their hands, âif itâs just the carinâ bit, thatâs fine. I just thought that maybe it felt different, maybe I was readinâ into it, or maybe Iâve gone and gotten all weak in the knees for someone who was just beinâ nice again. It wouldnât be the first time someoneâs had to let me down easy, I promise, Iâll bounce back just as chipper.â It wouldnât stop the embarrassment from rolling in hard, however.
Sam smiled at her choice of words. The way she explained it all. The way she shyly looked away from him. He liked it all. The one thing he didnât like was that heâd been keeping a big secret from her. It didnât feel fair. She cared about him and heâd been lying all along. It wasnât really something he could keep from someone. Not forever. âNo,â Sam said softly, âno thatâs not it at all Fred.â He shook his head a little and let out a sigh. âI guess I never let myself think like that, not really, at least not until just now.â It was hard not to think about the possibilities after sheâd kissed him and they were standing there like that. âThereâs things you donât know about me, Fred. Things that might change your mind about all that.â
prettyxcrystals
âWell why would you have?â Fred pointed out, stomach dropping a bit as worry started to creep in. Heâd kiss her back but what if it was just out of shock and surprise? âI try sometimes to internalize my thinkinâ so I donât just go chatterinâ in the background when itâs socially unfair to fill the air with workinâ stuff out for myself. I-I was, have been thinkinâ about things lately and I just thought that maybe..â she shook her head, feeling like she was back in that clueless place again. Dopey Fred, could be smart about smart things but when it came to matters of the heart, of course she wasnât. âItâs fine, I probably shouldâve asked permission or somethinâ first,â she smiled at him before moving to distract herself with the tools on the counter.
Sam was caught between what he wanted to do and what he felt like he should do, for Fredâs sake. It wasnât fair to get involved with someone when she didnât know his secrets. There was no telling what might change once she knew. She should know first, before making up her mind, but he wasnât so sure he was ready to tell her. He was never sure about telling anybody, it mostly happened on accident. âNo,â Sam said softly as he moved down the counter to her. He reached out and gently rested his hand on one of hers, stopping some of the nervous energy and fiddling for a moment. He ducked his head a little to catch her gaze, âYou thought that maybe - what?âÂ

Fred pressed her hands to her cheeks in an attempt to cover the blushing, nevermind the fact that by doing so she was actually drawing more attention to them. âIf it explodes, I apologize in advance but Iâm pretty sure nothingâs changed with the electrical current,â she rattled off a bit, moving her hands from her cheeks to play with the ends of her hair as she tried to manage the nervous energy coursing through her body. Her gaze snapped to his, her head shaking before any words came out but they quickly followed, âno, no, of course I ââ Fred caught herself, narrowing her eyes at him and smiling a little, âsee? Youâve got me goinâ again. My brain turns to jelly and I canât remember how to speak but you still look at me like Iâm not talkin nonsense.â
ââCept maybe you,â Sam said in reply to her comment about electrical currents. Sometimes it seemed like someone had revved up Fredâs energizer batteries and set her loose. Her current burst of nervous chatter and energy only seemed to confirm that tendency even further. âThatâs âcause youâre not talkinâ nonsense. You make plenty of sense. Maybe just broken up in a few pieces at the moment but still sense,â he smiled. Sheâd kissed him, meant it, wanted to. Sam just wasnât entirely sure what to do about the new revelation. Want and worry of his own clouded his judgement too. âI guess I just didnât realize....â he trailed off softly, a smile tugging at his lips, âsee, youâre not the only one that canât seem to finish sentences.âÂ

Sometimes it felt like she had absolutely no control over her body when her mind got away with itself. One second she was excitedly hopping over a minuscule success, something anyone else wouldâve seen as tedious and been bored by, but she was proud of the breakthrough sheâd made - theyâd made. The next second, sheâd kissed him, turning bright red in the process but sinking further as he didnât push her away but instead returned the favor. She melted. Then her mind caught up and she panicked, hoping she hadnât made a complete fool out of herself. Oh Fred, not again. âSorry! Iââ she shook her head, backtracking already, ânot that Iâm sorry forââ again, she backtracked, âit was nice- good- er I mean, that was wonderful, but I didnât mean to uh-â she blushed harder, her words scrambled in her brain, âIâ I told you I could fix the toaster.â After multiple tries. Kissing him mightâve given her away.
A smile lingered on Samâs lips as he listened to Fred try to straighten out her thoughts. It was kind of cute the way she seemed to have a hard time finding the right words, the way her cheeks started to get a little brighter with each passing moment. The moment she took to collect her thoughts gave him a chance to collect his too. He raised his eyebrows a little and nodded his head, âYeah, yeah, you did fix that toaster alright.â Sam looked at her, âyou donât have to apologize, Fred. You just surprised me. Doesnât mean thatâs a bad thing,â he paused, studying her face for a reaction for a moment, âis that what you really meant? That you didnât mean to, or that you didnât want to?â
