Titled "Unknown Death Prequel" for time being...
Let me start this story by saying, I'm a knight. I wasn't born into nobility like my fellow warriors, but my name is known due to deeds outside of the heat of battle. I was given the title by the king himself, after solving problems not even his other knights or he could fix. Problems that could only be solved by using your head instead of sword, which the other knights weren't great at. But as the king knows, I'm not like the other knights. I'm educated and learned a lot from village elders and townsfolk. I've been in a few battles throughout the years since I became a knight, but lately, I've rarely raised my sword. I spent most of the days, talking strategy or local troubles with the king. The king rules over quite a few villages in the land and occasionally must deal with bandits and other troubles. Our enemies rarely invade us, and we do very well on trading. I'm not sure how else to describe the kingdom and everyone in it. Whenever something is afoot, the first person the king calls is me. One day, the king had me come in and talk to a few of the villagers who live on the outskirts of the kingdom, next to a massive forest. The villagers had come to ask us to help with a problem. Some of their cows and sheep started disappearing along with a shepherd who tended the sheep. The villagers believe there is an evil creature who lives in the forest. Everyone in the kingdom believes the forest to be haunted and inhabited by nightmarish creatures because of stories. So, the king tasked me with investigating what was going on. So off I went with the villagers back to their town. I left the castle with my armor, sword, a few other weapons, and a few books. The villagers and I swapped stories along the way. We didn't run into any bandits, which was weird. We did see deer and a few other animals. But we made it to town without any incident. The villagers helped me get a place in town. I was staying with this beautiful maiden who worked at the town's tavern. She was beautiful. She had beautiful, shiny raven-black hair and pale in the face, but full of life. She always wore a fresh flower in her that she picked from her garden and had a smile that made the days brighter. In all of my years of travel, I had never met a more beautiful woman in all my years of traveling. She was even well educated same as I was, even though she held a job at the local tavern. When she wasn't working, we'd sit and chat about everything, swap stories and knowledge. After a day or two of getting my bearings, I woke up one morning. The sun had risen, but she had left me some breakfast for me before she went to work. Walking around the village, I inquired about the killer who was causing chaos around the area. Nobody knows who is doing the crimes, but I found out from a young villager who claimed to be the best friend of the culprit. The best friend described the perpetrator and helped stealing from the other villagers as a jest until the perpetrator started killing the livestock. He told me that's when it all changed, and he stopped helping with the crimes. So, after talking the young villager and giving him a few coins for his troubles, I set out to find this culprit. I had to wander around the edge and a bit into the forest. He wasn't too hard to find, because he just happened to be away from prying eyes, cutting open a sheep, and eating the entrails with ravenous lust. He didn't even resemble a normal human being, but resembled a savage looking creature from a far away, uncivilized land such as a Wendigo, that I had heard of. He was covered in mud and blood, his own skin looked like it was rotting and falling off. The smell was ungodly and smelled of death and decay. I didn't have my armor on, so I climbed up high in one of the trees just to observe him from afar. The smell I spoke of, permeated everything and you can smell it from a ways off. I made mental notes of the surrounding area and in the vicinity.
That's just the first part...
