I get that everyone loves the Casfession scene but I just can’t watch it without hearing Misha’s voice, not Cas’, and then when Dean goes flying off in the wrong direction after getting shoved? Whhhhyyyyy. Was Speight just not paying attention when he was directing? I just wish it’d been better. :(
I’ve never found this particular scene to be good at all mostly due to the editing and continuity errors you mention. There are fucking weird cuts throughout it too which point to it being extensively edited in post production. It’s not nearly as bad as any scene in the finale but retrospectively we should have seen the shit that was coming.
I don’t find Rich Speight to be a very good director generally fwiw. But I guess in a show where Bob Singer could (and did) come in a fuck shit up regularly we can’t call him the worst.

Looked this up and while I won’t be reading these I really don’t see the problem. If you want to see them together there are mostly fifteen seasons of that streaming right at this moment.
What I really wish they’d release in the midst of all of these cash grabs is a prequel story of some kind. There is so much we don’t know and while the geriatric actors aren’t up to the task of filming Sam and Dean as teenagers/young adults written/illustrated media is PERFECT for this.
Like, what was Dean’s life actually like during the years when he was hunting solo with his dad? Sam wasn’t returning his calls and John was no doubt a fucking nightmare to deal with. This time period could really flesh out the Cassie character and their romance (along with any others) as well as provide the horror elements fans of the early seasons long to see in the later show episodes. Not least of which is how isolated John forced him to be… isolated from other hunters (e.g. we see Dean express surprise when Gordon knows his dad is dead in s2 ) and isolated from Sam. This is so sad and yet only ever briefly touched on.
And a prequel of Sam? Where we could finally get some fucking information about what he actually did during his uni years and how Azazel was (from the lips of the demon himself) manipulating his life? That could be so good lmao. One of the most frustrating things about Supernatural is that we know literally nothing about what was a very important time in Sam’s life except what Demon!Brady and Azazel tell us. Sam mentions having had a group of friends (Lil’ Becky from the shapeshifter episode in season 1 is almost the only person we ever actually meet) and he definitely worked his ass off to stay at uni and away from John … we assume. I would love to see how Azazel (my favourite big bad villain ngl) played fairy godmother for Sam to help make his dreams come true knowing all the time he was going to fuck him over. This is a great horror premise as well. I’d love to see a Sam who ignores Dean’s calls because THAT alone must have been an enormous undertaking for him. I’m open to seeing more of Jess than her wearing a Smurfs shirt and illuminating on the ceiling. I’d love to see more of her personality … or any of her personality tbf. I would love to see Sam’s struggles as a uni student balanced with the “good luck” Azazel gifts him while filling his entire life with demons. What a premise! That Kripke never actually fucking explored lmao.

Do you think Jensen reverted back too this straight macho alpha male persona after he was on the boys? Sincerely, I don’t think anyone knows what JA’s personality actually is. You see only what he wants you to see and he has been “acting” various personas since before Supernatural started. That these have changed so many times makes me laugh to see people pretend they “know” him or his relationships. It’s all an act.
I do think he is feeling himself as a man’s man and pandering to the demographic that will probably watch his myriad cop shows and Vought Rising, but it’s more like: he’s around Kripke more so he acts like Kripke. Just like when he’s (ahem) around JDM he acts like JDM. Grumpy!Jensen is basically him putting on JDM’s voice in Supernatural. Fake and cringe but you get used to it.

Of course in the post-Dabb/Carver era we can just surmise this was that rascally Chuck placing the army man back into its place even after the car has been smashed to literal bits and rebuilt by Dean from scraps. Because it's the blemishes that make her beautiful DOYOUGETIT Lmao. But this is quite literally deus ex machina . As someone who really does not believe Chuck was actually intended to be God at this point, this is just clumsy writing to fit the overly sentimental framing. It’s just bad writing. But very Kripkian.
Hey, OP, they literally explain that in the episode, that Dean knew every nuance and included the "flaws" in the rebuild, because he's a sentimental fucking bastard and that's his fucking HOME. It's not bad or clunky just because you don't like it, don't pay attention, and have no media literacy.

I hope this doesn't come across as rude, but I'm curious, as it seems like most of your posts about it are negative in some way: do you even like supernatural? or is this a hate/wank blog and I'm just dense?
This was originally just a joke/hate blog about the “character” of Emma (lmao). It was myself and some of my friends just being obnoxious because of the #emmanatural folk who were posting self insert fanfictions based on a three min character just because she’s “Dean’s only REAL daughter”, calling Sam the manifestation of pure evil because he shot her, completely ignoring the fact that Dean was raped in order to procure his sperm, and ignoring that this is a typical problematic Buckleming storyline which is to say: hates women, loves rape, makes no fucking sense.
Then people started asking questions. So it continued. I have a love/hate relationship with Supernatural while also acknowledging that it is not, in any way, a “good” show. But I wouldn’t be talking about it at all if there weren’t parts of it I do like. And I find my anons ask questions here they might not ask elsewhere due to the hivemind dominating no matter what part of the fandom they are a part of. The supernatural cult genuinely fascinates me. Plus, I work in entertainment so I have some funny shit to talk about sometimes.

What’s fascinating to me is there seems to be a sort of fallacy amongst the #emmnatural brethren that to hate Emma you must love Jack. This is not the case with me but I do find it an interesting assumption on their part. As annoying as some Jack centric posters can be, we do know actual shit about Jack other than his clothes because he was in more than (generously) five minutes of an episode. So there are, you know, actual traits you can cling to when you say you adore him. I find him to be an absolutely abhorrently written character at times but he was written and not shat out by Buckleming and Bob Singer after Tuesday night tacos and an (ALLEGED!) threesome with Mark Pellegrino. I kid, I kid.
To be quite honest, I find all of Dean’s behaviour towards Jack to be understandable and valid. Let’s go back to Jack’s birth shall we? Jack is the son of the literal devil who was conceived by Lucifer raping his mother, Kelly, a Republican/conservative political operative of some kind, by deception. (Other than the fact that we (unfortunately) know more about Lucifer than we did about Lydia the Temu Amazon this is pretty analogous with Emma) Throughout Kelly’s pregnancy what has Dean seen? Her hand burn a fucking bible when she touches it and his erstwhile bestie “play him”, steal the Colt, and go on a road trip with her after what definitely seems like some sort of brainwashing via fetus from Dean’s POV. I think one thing people generally struggle with from an audience perspective is that the characters don’t know everything the audience does (tbf oftentimes the writers forgot this too). And in this case while it’s not clear that Castiel was brainwashed it’s certainly not clear that he wasn’t. So the idea of Kelly birthing literal hell on earth is a very valid viewpoint for Dean to take.
Side note here: I find the whole idea of Jack’s birth genuinely horrifying. Birth is already a dangerous, bloody, visceral experience for all women who undergo it. We are told that Kelly will die no matter what (and the fact that she accepts this is fucking awful to me but I digress) but the fact that Dean might actually assume she gave birth to a literal MAN is incredibly disturbing and never remarked on. We are (fortunately) not shown Jack’s birth and told he just aged up really really fast later (like our beloved babygirl Emma ❤️). But Sam and Dean absolutely do not know this at the time. Let’s assume Dean does indeed believe Jack was birthed out of Kelly’s uterus as a giant man baby. You can see why upon entering the room where Kelly gave birth he would be a tad bit disturbed by what he sees. Particularly after seeing Castiel be stabbed by Lucifer and his mom get taken to parts unknown. I’m actually more worried about Sam’s relative calm here if I’m being honest.
So a badly traumatized Dean reacts poorly to seeing a giant man baby in the room where Kelly’s corpse is lying and shoots Jack. Jack responds by warping time and space and going AWOL. Once again, nothing Dean has said or done regarding this situation is indefensible or unusual to the idea that the Son of Satan is on the loose. Even when they manage to corral Jack at the police station later I still find Dean’s response to him to be the sanest one. Sam is nicer to him but that’s because he wants him to reopen the portal so they can find Mary not because Jack has shown a partialness to nougat.
The other times I find people being very “DEAN HATES JACK DEAN IS EVIL!!!!!” occur when Dean shoots Jack at the convenience store while Jack is threatening an employee (this is like spraying water on an unruly cat as everyone knows bullets cannot harm Jack by this point) and when he tricks him into going inside the Ma'lak Box box after once again, Jack has been displaying some very disturbing soulless behaviour. Dean is always about saving the greater good and so taking out a giant threat to humanity is once not again that big of a stretch to me. Some members of the audience just apparently find Jack and his shenanigans up to this point adorable and that’s fair. But this isn’t an easy decision for Dean (or Sam btw) so I don’t understand it being used to prove Dean hates Jack or is unredeemable evil.
What Dean DOES do for Jack proves that at the very least he was trying to care for him. He treats him like an individual person, goes hunting with him, takes him fishing (a very important childhood memory to Dean), teaches him to drive the fucking Impala and bakes him a birthday cake. This is all onscreen btw (an important distinction as we know Dean cares about, for example, Castiel by his actions but a lot of the little friendship gestures we hear about like watching movies together are all offscreen). Personally I think turning Jack into a deus ex machina as “the new god” is far worse than anything Dean does to him. And of course, the ramifications or implications of this are never discussed or explained. But I guess even Dabb’s own original character couldn’t escape an absolute dogshit ending. That is the true moral of Supernatural.

True, there is a strong contingent of Deangirls who partake in the I Saw Goody Sam Winchester Dancing With The Devil Under the Pale Moonlight discourse but truthfully what I mostly see is people using “Emma” as a cipher for their OCs or as a way to get to GirlDad! Dean despite him being raped by a cult member. Any port in a storm I guess.
1.) Megstiel. “Meg” is a horrible, unredeemable character who sexually assaulted both of our leading characters, sexually assaulted and killed Jo (who is supposed to be one of the main characters best friends), decided to go by the name of an innocent girl she skin walked inas well as raped and killed, walking around in her skin doing heinous shit for over a year (including killing people Sam and Dean have known since childhood) and paralyzed Bobby. I’ve seen a lot of people say they don’t consider blonde and brunette Meg to be the same character but… she does a lot of this shit after her reincarnation as brunette Meg. That the writers could have chosen to make her a completely different demon at some point and didn’t points to them either not giving a fuck about characterization or believing the audience was so stupid it didn’t matter. This sadly proved to be true as Meg was just so adorable calling Castiel her unicorn and he was just so adorable telling her he learned that from the pizza man uwu. The idea that Sam and Dean would ever be reluctant allies with Meg is fucking stupid and I have some severe issues with them calling her “Meg” at all aka. the name of the girl she maimed, raped and eventually killed. Who (the spirit of the real Meg) tells Dean this to his fucking face in s5. If there has ever been a ship that proves the general Supernatural audience has the memory of a goldfish it is this one.
2.) Dean/Lisa for the myriad of reasons I have brought up previously. For all intents and purposes they don’t fucking know each other AT ALL until he shows up at her house post Sam’s dive into the pit. That Kripke depended on the audience having a collective psychosis and forgetting that Dean in fact actually did have a woman he truly loved (Cassie) and the fact that it wasn’t Lisa (aka. “Gumby Girl” to quote Dean) shows exactly what Kripke thinks about women in general. A one night stand is the same thing as a first love. Sure. Add in Ben, the worst child actor in a show full of bad child actors, and you have a truly nauseous scenario. I really fucking hate Ben lmao. Cindy Sampson deserved better than what the bronlies dished out to her but jfc what a fucking dumb relationship built on believing the audience to be full of idiotic misogynists. Guess they bet right with that one.
3.) Rowena/Gabriel. This was a late seasons horror sprung unawares on an unsuspecting audience. I cannot think of any reason for this shit other than the “everyone wants to fuck these guys” thesis. I’ll reiterate again that this is why I like Charlie despite her obviously being written by a straight man because THANK FUCK one character wasn’t randomly into sex with these losers.
4.) Sam/Madison. This wasn’t really a relationship but since plenty of fans love it I’ll mention it. This was very disturbing from the time they met and I honestly cannot believe a woman (Sera Gamble) wrote it to be romantic. It literally starts with him telling her “you don’t seem like the kind of bimbo that would be abused”, reaches its peak with gross JarPad sex scene flexing and ends with Sam shooting her. I literally prefer Sam/Jess and Sam/Sarah over this creepy as fuck pairing.
5.) Sam/Amelia. Low hanging fruit I know. But the creepiest thing about it to me was the Vaseline on the lens soft focus all of these scenes were shot in. Very similar to Dean’s Heaven next door to his abusive dad tbh.
