The journey you’re on may not be perfect, but with Him, it is worth it. It is worth it to wait even when it seems like everyone’s prayers are being answered and you’re still waiting for the smallest things to happen. There is so much more that you do not see, including the hidden things God is doing that have yet to be revealed to you. And also, there are even hidden things that others are praying for that you may already have. For instance, you may be a college student praying for patience as she waits for the right relationship, where a girl five miles away from you is in a relationship but praying for an opportunity to go to the college you’re already attending. You may be praying for an opportunity to leave the company you’re working for while someone else sees working there as an answered prayer. ⠀ No matter what you don’t have, hold onto the beautiful truth that because you know where you are ultimately headed in Christ Jesus, you always have something to be grateful for. There might be some nights where you’re just tired of being single or jobless or childless or financially stretched or emotionally taxed, but you are never without Jesus. You are never without the comfort and the strength the Holy Spirit is breathing into you. You are never outside of God’s protection as He leads you where you need to be. ⠀ See everyday as a blessing; an opportunity to draw closer and closer to Him. Pray for patience, but also pray for opportunities to nurture what God has given you. Dear girl who asked for prayer this weekend about what she’s been waiting for: You’ve been waiting for a while. You have been serving the Lord, working hard, and trying to be the best you can be and still, there’s just this one thing that God gives to so many others, and yet, year and year, you are left with out it. ⠀ But even though things may not have worked out how you were expecting them to, you wouldn’t still be here if the journey was over. You wouldn’t still be here if there wasn’t more to the beautiful story God is writing in your life. ⠀ Live through today as if it you already knew that it was going to be the best day of your life, because it is. It’s already a day to be wrapped in the unfailing Love of Jesus and nothing in the world is more valuable than that. There is nothing wrong with desiring romantic love or even the love of your friends, but that will never be able to be your everything. Only the love of Jesus can be that. ‪Because it is in His love, and not the love of man that will stir within you hope and courage to keep living and loving, as you wait for what’s to come.‬ ⠀ ‪You may have been waiting in this valley for the same things for years, but keep your eyes open. It doesn’t matter if you just went through a bad breakup or you’re unsuccessfully searching for a new job, whatever it is, don’t let it break you. And you know what’s amazing? When you consider it pure joy, it cannot break you: “Consider it pure joy…whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” -James 1:2-4 You’re only maturing in your faith and getting so much stronger than you were yesterday. ⠀ When faced with difficult things, you might feel emptied out day by day, becoming more and more exhausted and less and less motivated to move on, but know that God is doing a mighty work in your life and in this process, through Him, you are lacking nothing. It doesn’t matter who abandoned you. It doesn’t matter what situation just fell through, even when you’ve been thrown the most challenging, heartbreaking battles of your life, consider it joy. Consider that no matter how bad it gets, God is going to bring you through this. You’re going to be able to tell a story you never thought you would tell. God is going to reveal so much to you that you never imagined you would see. Hold onto that! That’s what it means to consider it pure joy. ⠀ Dig into God’s word on a daily basis so you can be reminded just how true this is for every single thing you’re going through, no matter how big or small. This is important because even though if we had it our way, we wouldn’t have to deal with trials, we are still going to face them. When we learn to put out trust in God by continuing to be joyful no matter what comes, we mature in our faith, getting stronger and stronger when the trials come our way. This is how you can become that woman that walks around with an unshakeable faith, no matter what gets thrown at her, who no matter what, considers it pure joy. ⠀ Written by @morganhnichols for #thedevoco

Companionship is a beautiful thing, and to desire a loving healthy marriage is not wrong at all, but before and after any relationship begins, we must remember that as well as we think we know that person, and as well we think they know us, only the Lord knows the depths of our hearts. Only our relationship with Jesus provides us with an Eternal love more sustaining than any other love. This is not to say you should not desire romantic love. The Old Testament book Song of Solomon is a perfect example of how romantic love is not a taboo subject to God, and there are many other instances in Scripture where marriage and love are both exemplified and written about specifically. However, within the canon of Scripture, we also find this important truth: He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. - Colossians 1:17 ⠀ There is nothing that holds us together like Jesus. There is nothing and no one that can wrap us in perfect, everlasting love unless it comes from our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Hold onto this as you pursue a romantic love relationship or you seek to grow closer to God in the one you’re already in.
