A poem: ‘Capoeira through my eyes’
a phenomenon that takes place when two human beings start to interact
while being guided by ancestral music and energy
many things can happen now
it is a game of many fields
sometimes humorous like a two man cabaret, everything can be expressed
its all done while smiling and flowing
sometimes as serious and profound as the old traditions and rituals being executed
cantadores preacing their hearts out in ladainhas
remembering us of good and bad times, moral lessons and wisdom
sometimes intimate
when human bodies are sensing and interconnecting
moving elegantly like a choreographed dance
although completely improvised
sometimes tensed, intimidative games
much like wild cats solving problems on the street
unpredictable like a real fight, yet guided like therapy
thus with more respect and less damage
a rythmic exchange in psychological and fysical gestures
and broken when a chamada is proposed
mantra like corridos that can be sung for hours
conditioned hearts start beating faster
because of the primitive sounds coming from the berimbaus
a profound fullfilling practise with many witnesses
