《Sasuke Retsuden》

[TRANSLATION]

“What kind of person is your husband?”

“He is very kind.”

A fairly frank and simple answer, but Sakura wanted to say more.

“In fact, he is a very pure person.” She decided to add.

Thinking there was no way to know who she was speaking of, she couldn’t help but continue on.

“Sometimes he gets tunnel vision to the point it affects everyone around him. His thoughts can also jump from one extreme to another…but, that is also his strength. In addition, just based on looks he is a very handsome person, but he will never deliberately bring attention to that. This kind of nonchalant attitude towards himself is what I like about him, even though there are times that I do worry.”

“Is that so? Sasuke is one lucky guy.”

The hand supporting her chin slips, Sakura’s face hits straight onto the table. Ganno couldn’t help letting out an audible laugh.

“Eh?…W-why do you know it’s Sasuke-kun?!…Ah, no….so that means, my husband…”

“That guy was always sitting at this spot, only ever looking at the view outside. Except he has stopped doing that recently, probably because you came. I was always baffled by what Sasuke was looking at, but today I finally understand. Turns out he was waiting for the flower on that tree to bloom.”

“Hmm? Flower? umm…anyway, how did you know Sasuke-kun is my husband…?”

“Your hair color is very beautiful, you should cherish it.”

Ganno smiles warmly like that of a father letting his child hold a paper windmill. He walks away without any further explanation, leaving behind a confused Sakura.

Not knowing what to do, Sakura looks out the window and noticed the tree Ganno spoke of. The tree has only a single flower, sitting on an inconspicuous branch. At the end of the branch is a tiny blossoming flower, with ever so slight hints of pink petals.

Sakura stood watch for a while, finally realizing what Ganno had meant, and at that very moment her ears turned bright red.

Sasuke was waiting for the cherry blossoms to bloom.

[TRANSLATION]

- A lakeside near the research facility, the married couple continues their mission -

With a smile on his face he looks at her side profile, her eyes shine brightly like that of a child’s.

“Yes, recently that child has a sudden interest in the universe, she even went to the science exhibition with Ino at the university. Though she keeps reading information on the moon and stars.”

Is that the case?

Sasuke holds Sakura’s hand, her fingertips had turned ice cold from the surrounding air and he felt that her fingers were much slimmer from memory. There must be many moments missed due to being apart.

Even if there is no ring, nor can they be together everyday, Sakura is his wife and that is something which will never change. Back then, close friends used to tell him that the most important thing are bonds. No matter how far apart he is from Sakura, they will always be tightly connected. Even if they can not see each other, she is an irreplaceable partner.

But-

“Sakura”

Sasuke begins speaking awkwardly.

“Do you want a ring? Not the kind made from chakra, after returning to the village…..a normal ring.”

Words were getting mixed and becoming illogical, but Sakura understood what he meant.

“Hmmm.” she ponders deeply.

“I want one…..but rings are probably not suitable with my hand.”

She smiles wryly, covering the moon with her palm.

Her hands that had become rough due to disinfectant solutions are proof that Sakura had saved the lives of many shinobis. Sasuke felt proud of this, he very much like how serious her eyes are while working. Her careful and delicate hand gestures when treating the injured, the way she gently rolls up her sleeves when concentrating on chakra. As well as writing down notes on medical records after an examination. Seeing her passion for research and using ways different from himself to expand the village, he felt very happy.

“When I’m not at home, feeling concerned if someone will take away the place that I belong. These are things I never thought about.”

Sakura responds back with a nod.

“There are times that I worryingly think, when I finally return, seeing Sarada grow taller, seeing your hairstyle change slightly.”

“I’m the same, I also think about these things. For example, when will wrinkles appear under Sasuke-kun’s eyes.”

“Are there wrinkles?”

“A little~ when you smile. It’s very cool, not bad at all.”

“You haven’t changed.” As he speaks, his hand reaches out to touch under Sakura’s eye.

“It’s ok even if you have a lot of wrinkles.”
