âWhen K-1180 (fondly dubbed as âKiiboâ) comes to lone detective Shuichi Saihara in a last ditch effort for help , the unlikely pair finds themself on a journey to find the truth behind the story of the strange robotâs creator.â
this small set of doodles is for @xxaly-laneyxx for the @saiiboexchange ! i had a lot of fun sketching them out , and since theyre small (and i also really liked the idea of expanding on a fantasy au for saiibo) ive left a drabbles and general outlined ideas for the au under the cut ! i hope you like it :â>
A humble young human who lives by a humble little town. Shuichiâs younger years included him working vigorously as an apprentice under his uncles wing. the crime rate in town is relatively small , but , despite this , in the middle of Shuichiâs apprenticeship a mysteriously gruesome murder occurs. Shuichi miraculously solves this case through his own deductions , and has been consistently praised by the townspeople since. Examples of this include some of the more kinder elderly women often check up on him when his uncle is out of town on other , more risky cases he has been called to solve on his own , bringing him small baskets of fresh fruits or warm pastries.
A âglorified automatonâ (as Kokichi calls him) ; very little is known about Kiiboâs creation along with his creator. He stumbles into Shuichiâs office in the dark recesses of the night , wearing nothing but rags that seem to have been (poorly) patched time and time again. He asks for Shuichiâs help in finding out who - or rather what - he is , and where his creator could be (his previous efforts to get help were shut down - any attempts for an answer as to why were all the same ; âthere are more important things to take care of than going on some wild goose chaseâ). When retelling what he knows , Kiibo insists he has nothing but warm memories about a father-like figure he labels as âthe professorâ , but whether or not this person exists along with his whereabouts is uncertain (though Shuichi doesnât have the heart to outwardly deny his claims). He has a wind-up key in the middle of his back that , when spun in three full turns , can give him proper mobility and functioning for roughly fifty hours.
A notorious leader of a rag-tag team of swashbuckling pirates , Kokichi claims to have connections and colleagues all across the seven seas that go by the name of DICE. The truth behind such outlandish claims is in question , but one thing is for certain ; Kokichis face is plastered in every other wanted poster all around nearby towns (with a rather large bounty out for him). Kokichi is never to be seen without a child-like cheshire cat grin plastered on his face ; a mask that fits him a little too perfectly.
An upcoming pianist and one of Shuichiâs closest friends in their small town ; a girl who never fails to bring a warm , welcoming environment when she speaks with genuine passion from the heart (which is almost always). Kaede has a bright personality , and tries her best to help Shuichi stay motivated with the weight of work looming over his shoulders.
A rowdy and rambunctious man who goes with the flow of things and runs his familyâs tavern. Kaito never ceases to stop dreaming big and have his head in the clouds (or - rather - in space) , swearing to someday fully take up his hobby as an astronomer and make some great astronomical discovery as a true luminary of the stars.
A quiet assassin who only truly comes out in the comfort and camouflage of the night. Maki can often be seen in the odd corners of the dimly lit Momota tavern , having quiet conversations with the patrons that frequent there for any strips of gossip and leads she can go on in her near non existent spare time. A certain aspiring astronomer has had his eye on her for quite some time , but whenever they make eye contact the noirette always seems to stare daggers at him.
A lively traveling artist who comes from a distant and foreign island. Angie is most commonly known for the quality of her paintings and life-like sculptures despite being one of the more younger and rather bizarre masters of her craft.
A small girl who travels across the region making a living off of her magic shows from town to town. She insists that both her magic and the potion bottles and knick-knacks she carries in her hooded wagon is real despite various opportunities to actually prove such. Her location is ever-changing , though she can be guaranteed to forever have Tenko glued to her side.
Having only recently been released from years of training alongside an ancient Aikido master , Tenko is a fiery girl who is ready to take on any challenge that the world throws at her feet. Ironically enough , as soon as she sets out to âtake on the worldâ , she is immediately injured navigating through a thick woodland forest. Himiko crosses her path shortly after , using her âhealing magicâ to help mend to her wounds she got while entangled in a sharp thorn bush. Tenko has since been a loyal follower of Himiko , swearing to lay down her life to protect her.
The townspeople had always spoke of an old rumor of a maidenâs lost child being taken by the nearby forest - a tale sparked by the local mothers of the town worrying about their own children playing too close to the forest at night to scare them away. However , this rumor became solidified when a mountain of a man suddenly came tumbling into town , his language and demeanor resembling that of a naive , well-intentioned boy. To compensate for a childhood raised by forest creatures , the people of town had given Gonta proper clothing and food along with a home suitable for a proper gentleman.
A young man who parasails with the hopes of finding his younger sisters that have been lost around the world. Rantaro unintentionally captures the hearts of those around him (particularly of young maidens waiting to be betrothed) with his mysterious yet casual nature. He is seemingly normal during an initial introduction , but upon further interaction he is shown to know and feel a lot more than he may let on.
Korekiyo is the keeper of the townâs historical events and highly important artifacts. It is said that his ability to recount things of the past is a spectacle to behold in it of itself , but to not let the man get too carried away , as his longest running record of recollecting history has been said to go on for nearly 3 hours straight. Ironically , while his ability to recount the past is impeccable , very little of his own background is known - though this secretive side of him peaks the curiosity of quite a few women of the town.
A spunky and loud metal worker ; Miu Iruma is best known for her personality and skill. She is the best metal worker of the town and is well aware of it , and a trip to her workplace is guaranteed to be a head spinner. Miu is often found in a mess of spare parts and half-built gizmos and gadgets , and her primary hobby is tinkering.
A soft-spoken and obedient servant to any and all who may require service. Kirumi is a maid who is said to complete virtually any task that has come to her , people being both in awe and slight fear of what she is capable of. There are vague rumors as of recent that say that she is even a close affiliate with the king , though no real proof of this has yet to surface.
Ryoma Hoshi is a weary , wandering traveler who picks up odd jobs as he travels. His latest place of work is the midnight shifts at the Momota tavern , though come dawn he can sometimes be seen talking to the drunken patrons of the tavern about his old life and his own small adventures that are years past.
A polite young woman who runs a small boutique in the outer skirts of a nearby town that sells items of her own creation. She can tailor and sew something from rags to riches in a matter of minutes , and there isnât a look she cannot seem to pull off. Women far and wide come to have dresses made and fitted for them , often fawning over Tsumugiâs craftsmanship. Apart from Tsumugiâs remarkable ability to fabricate peoplesâ concepts into reality , she seems to be a relatively normal person.
Some Extra Small Stuff :
When alongside Shuichi , Kiibo feels the need to be ⌠strong. As embarrassing as it is to admit , his strength is comparable to that of the elderly townsfolk - one of his aspirations along his journey with the detective is finally being able to somehow protect him in return for all the help heâs given him on his quest to find his creator (i.e. - the cheesy âif you want to get to him you have to go through meâ line aha).
Miu hits a new high note in her squealing that Shuichi has never heard before when he takes Kiibo into her workplace for a repair.
Shuichi is greatly shaken up the first time Kiiboâs wind-up key causes him to stutter and come to a slow stop. He had assumed as much since the key always kept a slow , steady pace , but seeing the literal light dim from his eyes was a sight he would much rather avoid beholding again.
The phrase âK-1180Ⲡis engraved into the nape of Kiiboâs neck. Underneath it is cursive lettering that has been worn down and rendered illegible.
Shuichi has a journal with a cover made of soft brown leather gifted to him by his grandfather. He uses it to write down and record all of the events of his journey with Kiibo - along with small notes about Kiiboâs anatomy and make up (though getting Kiibo to ⌠reveal that sort of information was a journey on its own).
Shuichi notes that Kiibo is built out of what looks like white porcelain or ivory , but this wouldnât make sense with how lively his facial expressions are.
Despite having relatively normal expressions , some of Kiiboâs movements can be a little stiff.
Kiibo has a wide panel along his chest , and when further inspected gears in his clockwork skeleton the gears should be physically incapable of moving for fifty hours for a mere three turns of the wind-up key.
Kiiboâs light-up eyes make it much more convenient to read at night.
When Kiibo is angry , steam pours out of his ears. How cute âŚ
aaand thatâs about it. i had a bunch of fun coming up with ideas for this weird little au ! i plan on going in to expand upon it sometime , and write a fully fledged outline to draw up some more cleaner-looking doodles and mini comics for the saiibo tag , because it really deserves a lot more. and , since this is supposed to be a fantasy au , i really would like to play around with the idea of different species and classes and all that cool stuff in the story if i can (kokichi being a literal gremlin , angie being a naga , etc , etc). but for now i thank you , poor reader , for going through this mess of text. and again - i hope you enjoyed it =v=;
