it’s ironic, as i’m saying this on social media.

today, in this moment, being black feels like running a marathon and never being able to to catch your breath.

i need to finish the race. and i will.

i am a dark skinned Black woman.

in love, with a dark skinned Black man.

our skin color runs the same. there is no end. and society fears us for it.

but i promise you, i’d go to the ends of the earth for you.

i’d burn it all down for you.

i love you.

deeply. endlessly. unconditionally.

it’s weird. as fuck.

i sat on facetime for a few hours the other day with my best friend planning the next 3-5 years. we came to the conclusion that we need to get our shit together now to meet our goals, but as exciting as it is it’s also kind of saddening. i’ve worked so hard to get to this point in my career, my love life, my inner self.

i feel stable. confident. strong.

but a part of me feels like my youth is fleeting—
