so recently ive become obsessed with joe hill's NOS4A2, watched the show, read the comic, and currently reading the book!
and i'd like to just rant about two ships in this fandom and not to hate(no, i am hating) i'd like to rant about why one is better.👀
so alot of people ship vic and charlie in this fandom, ive seen it across tiktok, instagram, even here on tumblr. AND I HATE IT SO GODDAMN MUCH. now in the book i find the ship more less icky because i'm pretty sure charlie only gains his crush when vic is a full grown adult with a whole child, but in the show(despite the crush being canon) charlie gains his crush on vic when she's 17 to freshly 18, when charlie is 135, and it's just odd to me to ship it when it's clearly stated.
now onto my rambling abt why i think cassie x charlie is better.
- cassie and charlie meet when they are both ADULTS and in the same age range!(in the show) now in the comic i'm pretty sure they do meet when cassie herself is 17..but i'm like 100% sure charlie is 20-28 at least?? which doesn't make it better but in my eyes 20's is better then a hundered.✌️
- vic-charlie shippers(from what ive seen) mention they enjoy the ship because of it's toxicity, but cassie-charlie HAS THE SAME TOXICITY!! charlie literally killed cassie, acted extremely sexist, and was overall not a great husband..but that's what makes it good. especially with how much he hates her and then you think sbout how he can't stay away from her..🤤
- this isnt really a good reason but the giant sexual/romantic between charlie and cassie in 5 MINUTES is so much more better then any tension then vic-charlie had the ENTIRE SHOW😭😭 and vic and charlie hardly had tension, the only tension they had was to kill each other, not to kiss eachother🫶 source: trustmebro.com
- cassie and charlie are MARRIED WITH A CHILD🥹🫶 the relationship is already built for you, the ship is made since charlie's backstory gets shown. meanwhile with vic, charlie finds out she slept with someone one time and immediately ditches that future relationship like it was nothing🤔 also the fact with if charlie can ditch a crush THAT easily, he probably didn't want vic from the start. if anything he was only interested in her power and not her romance.
- in the show at least, it's mad obvious that the christmasland version of the sleigh house is repressed trauma/memories, considering that mr. tim is there trapped in a room. but cassie is also there..which means charlie repressed the memory of her, ethier that or he is general upset in some way over her death(imo) but why would he repress the memory/be upset over the desth when he claims all the time that he was unhappy with cassie and hated her?? BECAUSE HE STILL LOVES HER. #reaching
- in the book, charlie manx states "my first wife(cassie) was like the rash you get from poison ivy. I chouldnt stand her, but I chouldnt keep my hands off her. she was an itch I scratched until I bled—and then I scratched it some more!" in my opinion, poison ivy isn't something pleasant, which implys cassie was NOT pleasant relationship, but yet he still he back to her several times over😭✌️bro just admit you down bad..
that's all i have for this fucked up little ship of mind, nos4a2 fans come find me and be my friend, and if you ship vic x charlie i don't care, just don't expect me to make content of them or anything ❤️
