Hiiii! :) I usebrush 1 and 2 to paint the skin.

 #1 is a hard and flat brush and I use it for almost everything and#2 works well too and it helps me to blend (in my last works I used#2 more than usual). I usually work with some texture on them and in someareas I add more (✱)

Hi anon!!First of all, I’M SO SORRY for replying late 🙏😔 I don’t even know if you’ll ever read this, butif you do I hope you’ll find it somehow useful ;;

When itcomes to backgrounds I go for simplicity bcs I spend too much time drawing theface and hair, so I don’t want to spend more time with a detailed backgroundsince the main focus is maybe wonho in my case :’) so what I tend to use forbackgrounds are geometric shapes like circles, squares, halos, they’re reallyaesthetic for me. Also flowers, i love them and I always test if I can addthem as the background but most of the time I give up since the realistic ones arepretty complicated to draw :’) other ‘simple’ elements I think about are themoon, clouds, red threads, sometimes animals. And if these ideas don’t work Igo to pinterest. It’s a great source of inspiration! Anyways, always keep inmind that the background is like a complement, it has to help the portrait lookbetter and it can’t take all the attention. I’m bad at explaining but I hopeyou understand what i’m saying.

One morething, when you don’t know what color to use for the background, you can havein mind the hair color. If your character has dark hair it would look betterwith a light color background bcs it will stand out more and vice versa. (maybethis seems obvious, but I didn’t think about it until I heard it from@/happydartist :) )

About yourhair question… drawing hair is honestly a nightmare for me and I’m terrible atexplaining things, but I’ll try to record the hair process of one of my currentwips. I’ll take me a while tho…
