How the AIB Boys Confess Their Feelings to You
(you drives them crazy, and they love it)
Heâs annoyingly good at hiding emotions, so no one really sees it coming.
You catch the way his eyes linger. The way he stands a little closer than necessary. The way he always has snacks when you say youâre hungryâeven though he âdoesnât care.â
One night, you call him out:
âAre you ever going to admit you like me?â
He glances up from his chair, smirks, then calmly says,
âI figured you knew already.â
You blink. âWaitâso you do?â
He shrugs. âI like you. A lot. But youâre clever enough to figure that out without a grand speech, arenât you?â
âŚYou roll your eyes, but your heart is doing backflips.
He confesses the only way he knows howâbluntly, and like the world might end right after.
Youâre tending to his wounds again, fussing over a cut on his cheek, when he grabs your wrist.
âYou make me feel⌠different,â he says quietly.
You tilt your head, confused. âDifferent how?â
His eyes meet yours. No mask. No steel. Just raw honesty.
âLike I donât want to die anymore. Like I want to protect you. Like I love you.â
Itâs not soft. Itâs intense.
You just smile. âI love you too.â
He exhales like heâs been holding that breath forever.
Heâs nervous. Like, visibly.
He keeps trying to say it but backs out every time.
So you corner him one evening and say, âOkay, seriouslyâwhatâs going on with you lately?â
And then it bursts out of him:
âI like you! Okay? I really, really like you. I think about you all the time and it makes everythingâthis place, these gamesâless awful.â
You stare at him, stunned.
He looks like he wants the ground to swallow him.
So you just grin and say, âTook you long enough.â
And the way he laughs after? Worth it.
He doesnât say it in words at firstâhe shows it in the possessive glances, the way he always steps in front of danger when youâre around, the snacks he throws in your lap when youâre grumpy.
But one night, when you jokingly say, âYouâd be sad if I died, huh?â
âIâd burn the whole Borderlands down if anything happened to you.â
You blink. ââŚSo you like me?â
He scoffs, then mutters, âYeah. Obviously.â
He groans. âFine. I like you. A stupid amount. Happy now?â
You kiss his cheek and he blushes so hard, he forgets how to act tough.
He stumbles over every word. He keeps fidgeting, scratching the back of his neck, avoiding eye contact.
Finally, he blurts it out while youâre drinking water:
âI really like you! Like, in a heart-fluttering, canât-sleep, youâre-so-pretty-it-hurts kind of way.â
He panics. âOh my god are you okay? I didnât mean to kill you with feelings!â
You burst into laughter and say, âYouâre so cute itâs actually unfair.â
He turns tomato-red. But also? He glows.
He doesnât plan it. It just happens.
Youâre arguing about something smallâlike whether you should rest or keep movingâand he says, âYouâre too stubborn for your own good.â
You fire back, âWell maybe I wouldnât be if you didnât keep risking your life!â
And he just⌠stares at you.
Then quietly says, âI do it for you.â
âIâd risk everything for you. Because I love you.â
He looks away, like maybe he shouldnât have said it.
So you take his hand and whisper, âThen I guess weâre both stubborn. Because I love you too.â
