The whole safe and hopeful atmosphere this illustration has! How it reflects Akutagawa becoming more humble, mature, reasonable, and Atsushi now looking forward to a bright future, leaving the pain and abuse behind once and for all? And furthermore: Akutagawa looking at the present in his hands timidly, pondering on it and looking almost indecisive - which again is such a huge thing for him to now be meditating over it, the character who started off so impulsive and inconsiderate! -, seemingly avoiding to look at the person in front of him; how he’s mirrored by Atsushi, who started off tormented and scared, here looking straight in front of him, fearless and optimistic???
