I feel like Sloan is ALWAYS getting sick. Like not horrible sicknesses but I mean things like a cold, ALL the time.
his magic is very different than what humans and elves use, it can do pretty much anything, but the cost is that it sucks the life out of him basically, he could put his hand on a tree and use his magic, and the tree would kind of shrivel up. Or a flower would wither. Anything alive. But he's not the biggest fan of killing a bunch of plants. Among everyone he's around, it is seen as dark, he sees it that way too.
But anyway, it's why he's so tired and frail sometimes, and irritable. If he didn't use his magic for a week straight, he would look significantly better than he always does. Fortunately, he loves sleeping! I don't think it could kill him unless he TRIED to make that happen.
Dear GOD winter is horrible for him. and just because I say so, he can't get anyone else sick. 🤗🤗

I love love love when OCs' powers have drawbacks on their body in some way (I mean Ry's magic was decided with that being the driving factor) but draining life from stuff around him - and as a result himself - is so interesting??

I'd imagine there are pros and cons to the fact he can't get others sick - namely the main pro being of course Nacht can care for him without worrying about contracting anything himself.

Ry was officially part of a slice-of-life anime that was made by Aarii. There were many characters of his too, and I was like “wow?!?!?!!?? Aarii made it?! So cool!!!!!” and I was watching a thousand of videos related to it, then there was those marbles ball races, yk? Each color meant a character. And the video was focusing on Ry’s ball that ALWAYS jumped out of the track LMAO 😭💔 “Omg even as a ball Ry’s luck is bad 😥😥” were my thoughts.
Then I watched all those videos and I couldn’t find more, that’s when I got desperate, “I MISS MY BEAUTIFUL PARTNERS💔💔💔💔💔” and yay here it is.

I was going to include the accessories to his belt but I thought it looked better without them, so I just stuck to the plain brown belt. i feel like Sloan is definitely the jealous type. not to an extreme amount but enough to be noticeable. i'd say he would be more upset about nacht with a man compared to a woman because of his dysphoria. he often has thoughts like "what if he wants a real man?" or "i'm not a real man"

Sloan IS a real man, but I completely understand his self doubt - Ry has the same issues with worrying Julius would get tired of his dysphoria issues and such.
Nacht being Nacht I think he would see Sloan’s gender as something trivial, and try to tell him as such as a reassurance. With the way he is I’d imagine it would be something like “Why does that matter?” or “What are you talking about?” if Sloan ever actually asked him if he wanted someone cis.
Nacht definitely prefers who the person is since he’s so big on only liking ‘good people’ sooo I’d figure that’s right.
I think he’d complain more openly after hanging out with other people to Sloan, just so he can have the reassurance Nacht has no intention of leaving him. He definitely senses something’s up, and wants to ensure Sloan knows he’s the most important person in his life in his own way.
I don’t know if you’d agree on these exact interpretations since you’re the bigger fan of Nacht and definitely know is character more than I do lol - but that’s my impression.

If Ryan and Julius got married, what would their wedding rings look like?

I’d realised I never really made a proper reference of their wedding rings after I was asked if Ry had one like a day before this - so I thought after reading this too, now is a prime opportunity to make one. 😭
Below is how their rings look! I decided to make this an OC rambles post so that I can talk about my thinking behind each detail on the rings - I was originally gonna talk about their wedding too but this ended up being kind of long on its own, so ill leave that for a future day if anyone’s interested. 🫶

I always just get so excited when I see them and want to appreciate them thoroughly - especially when they’re questions about Ry. 🙂↕️
On with the deets on the rings! 👇

Let’s start with the most obvious feature, the gems in the centre.
Julius’ gem is turquoise in the shape of a sun mark, and Ry’s gem is purple in the shape of a half-moon.
Julius’ is in the shape of a sun both because their dynamic is LIKE sun and moon, but also because it matches the mark on his forehead.
I usually fill in the circle in the middle even though that’s what Lucius’ mark looks like because the rings are always so small in the drawings I make that it’s hard to have enough pixels to make it that way anyway - it’s just more convenient.
I thought about giving him his star mark from when he’s wizard king, but the moon and the stars doesn’t work as well, and Lucius also being associated with the sun would make it… kinda weird. But yeah, I feel like that part about the rings was obvious.
The half moon was a decision I made just because it make the shape seem more obvious from a distance - as a full moon would just be a normal circle and lose its meaning without Julius’ beside it.
However I think that is quite symbolic of how Ry views himself anyway, so I’ve been thinking of trying to find a way of the moon ‘filling in’ over time as Ry learns to feel like he has more worth and less of him is kept in the shadows - just like the view of the moon.
But I can’t think of a good way of doing that without destroying the ring over and over (which I don’t want to do because it has sentimental value to him), or it being to do with magic of some kind. I can’t think of a way of making it a magic stone relevant - because magic means more to Julius so having a spell like that on the stone would work better for his own ring right?
Idk, any thoughts please tell me I’m so stumped but I thought this was cute 💔
Back to explaining the details okokok
The gem in Julius’ ring is the stone Turquoise - as not only is Ry’s eye colour blue, but Turquoise is one name of Ry’s birthstones (since his birthday is in December - though December allegedly has a lot of ‘official’ birthstones - but most of them are light blue anyway).
Turquoise :
The gem in Ry’s ring is the stone Tourmaline - for the same reasons that Julius had Turquoise. October’s birthstone is usually a pink tourmaline, but the stone CAN be purple - thus I went with that one for consistency.
Purple Tourmaline :
I’m thinking about designing them engagement rings and or promise rings, in which I wanna give Ry Opal since that’s the other birthstone for October and it looks so prettyyyyy! 🥺
Maybe I could actually switch it round and give them their own birthstones to begin with, so it’s like when they officially get married they swap over and it’s more meaningful… idk
The bands themselves are gold just because yellows are already on both of their colour palettes - so it just makes more sense and matches better.
Any patterns engraved in the gold were originally a lot more intricate and complicated when I first designed the rings, but I wasn’t drawing allat so small so now it’s sort of morphed into details minimally inspired by the markings on Lucius’ skin later on - just because I felt like it was a way of making them relevant.
It’s again symbolic in a way since what ends up bringing them back together in the end after the fall out was Lucius’ defeat.
But yeah! Those are their rings when they get married :-)
