Yep I’ll be referring religious topics cuz I can and also cuz Mitch is religious and that would be cool ✌🏽🙂↕️
I like to think Lucius is like Lucifer, trying to be god. In my AU, Mitch already sees him as the new god, so I’d like to show it somehow. That’s when I remembered Mitchell is a name derived from Michael (Mikha’el), an important angel who fought for God, sooooo I searched some stuff about St. Michael and I look what I found:
It matches Mitch!!! :D I brought it to our context and it would be like:
Leader of the Army: Mikha'el commands the other paladins
Angel of Death: Mikha'el is the one killing the rebellious, at the same time giving them the chance to "repent" before doing so
Weigher of Souls: Mikha'el tells Lucius which people should be given another chance, who should be killed, etc (it doesn’t mean he always hears, but sometimes Lucius accepts their requests)
Guardian of the Church: the "church" here are the ones who Lucius transformed or allowed to be around, like Julius. Mikha’el only protect those who Lucius allows
I didn’t want Mitch to bond with any devil, so they weren’t transformed into a paladin like the others. Lucius talked (manipulated?…) Mitch into helping him by saying they could finally fight for what truly matters for them: Julius. We know Mitch is worried about being useful and protecting their loved ones, so I think there wasn’t much resistance from them. Lucius presented himself as a savior, and Mitch readily accepted that.
Now then, how did they get the creepy appearance?
Lucius taught them how to control their magic better, and Mitch learned how to purify the souls. With it, they convinced the souls to work for them willingly, without harming Mitch. “If you help me with this and that, I purify you, and you're free to go to Heaven.” That's how they managed to claim many souls without going crazy.
Mikha’el left a part of their body free of souls so they wouldn’t lose their own soul, but they still needed more power, that’s when part of the souls were shaped into their wing and sword. These aren’t physical, more like an illusion (?), thus why the wing doesn’t work. The sword doesn’t hurt physically too, it cuts directly through the soul (no blood spilled, no external pain/wounds).
Even so, these many souls in a single body causes consequences. Everyone’s emotions are kinda locked away so Mikha’el doesn’t get overwhelmed. The souls still speak a lot, but Mikha’el doesn’t feel anything about it. Mikha’el still have conscience of what’s right and wrong, what they want to protect, but right now it doesn’t exist like a feeling, more like a goal. And their main goal: saving Julius no matter what. What’s left is ambience noise that won’t get on their way.
I don’t know 🧍🏽 I thought a lot and concluded that many things could happen and I can’t pick one without finding more 476168 things to think about and that was annoying me 😭
I just know that if Lucius wins, he rewards Mikha’el with anything they want, knowing they’d ask for a family. Julius comes back, but I thought it would be better if none of them had magic now. Mitch just wants a normal, quiet life, and Julius wouldn’t have his time magic to not mess Lucius’ world. I mean, Lucius changed his memories once, he could do it again if he wanted. I guess. And that would be a nice origin story for Stella: Lucius created her for Mitch.
But if Lucius doesn’t win… honestly, I don’t know if people would forgive Mitch. I don’t know if they would forgive themselves. They did a lot of bad stuff with Lucius, killed so many people with this egoistic goal in mind. I know Julius revives everyone in the end, but even so. Just imagining the post-guilt Mitch would feel makes me sick for them ☹️ Especially because in a first moment Julius dies after reviving everyone, right? Rades and Sally could revive him later, but I don’t think Mitch would be able to stand all of it.
So… uhh Lucius has to win if we want Mitch to be alive 🧍🏽 guys how do I make him win I do not want Mitch to die 😭
