Elections can be stressful and almost always leave about half of the people who voted upset or disappointed. This year’s election 2016 was no different and has left many feeling upset, anxious or worried about the future. Today I offer up some self-care tips to help get you back on track and feeling like yourself. I encourage you to try these for 1 week.
Please share this video, you never know who may be having a hard time or just need a reminder to take care of themselves. xoxo
1. Stay off of social media and stop watching the news. If what we are allowing our brain to take in is upsetting to us, maybe we just take a break from it. This doesn’t mean stick our heads in the sand and not be informed, but maybe we just take a week off from it.
2. Spend time with those you love. I know that this is something that makes me feel better when I am down. Being around those who are positive, and who remind us of things we love in life can be great during times like these.
3. Get enough sleep and eat properly. These are the first things to go out the window when we are upset, and in truth, end up making us feel way worse. So try to get back into your regular sleep schedule and make sure you are not only eating ever 3-4 hours but that you are eating a variety of foods.
4. Get back into your routine. Sticking with your normal routine can sort of trick your brain into thinking everything is okay. It can also be really comforting and calming. So try to go to your regular coffee place each morning or grab lunch at that same favorite place. Whatever it is, just get back into it, it will help you feel so much better.
5. Lastly, be patient with yourself and others. A lot of people are excited and a lot of people are upset. This is a time of transition and it can take us awhile to feel back to normal.
I hope you found this helpful and can use some of these tips to improve your mood and week! xox
You know what pisses me off? We get so angry over racism, sexism, heterosexism, classism. We fight, we riot, we march in the street to fight for the rights of the oppressed. But then we go out and buy birthday cards for people showing an older women with sagging breasts or an old man with a beer gut, joking about being"over the hill". The statement "I hate old people", or "old people creep me out" is completely accepted. Radio show hosts discuss yelling at seniors that walk too slowly, teachers won't bring their kids to retirement homes because "they will be too scared of the residents", and that's just accepted. Obviously racism, sexism, all the other isms are an issue. I am by no means saying that they shouldn't be an outrage. But can you imagine a world where you could buy a card mocking a racial minority in literally any store that carries greeting cards and that's just seen as accepted? Or where it's totally normal to hear "oh, ____ minority really creeps me out" when you tell someone you work with said minority and that's just okay, because the vast majority hasn't even heard of the word ageism? Not okay. Not acceptable. Lives are ruined and lost due to ageism, too. The complete and utter apathy towards our elders is disgusting.
Me: man, I'm so tired.
80 something year old resident with dementia: (15 minutes later) what are we doing?
Me: going on a walk!
Resident: oh well THAT'S a great idea for someone who is tired....
That sass

group chats are stressful af because you put your phone down for 30 seconds and suddenly you miss 51 messages, 12 pictures, 7 memes, and someone’s death like
Upside to having no friends

Here is my official plan to change the world as we know it:
• I become a paramedic. • If I encounter patients who cannot be saved, just as they’re about to die, I’ll look them dead (haha) in the eyes and slap ‘em real hard. • If ghosts are real, this will cause dozens of them to be personally upset with me. I mean, at the very least, they’ll want answers. I’ll be the most haunted person ever. • This means I’ll have dozens of opportunities to record paranormal phenomenon. • I’ll get my own show on the Travel Channel called GHOST SLAPPER, through which I’ll eventually get irrefutable scientific evidence that ghosts exist, making me the wealthiest and most respected paranormal researcher of all time. • On my death bed, one of my interns will slap me real hard, to make sure I come back all pissed off and confused. • I will be the first ghost to host a ghost hunting show (which is mega cool, come on, admit it). • Eventually, the secret goes global, and everyone starts slapping their loved ones real hard as they die, because they believe it’s the best way for their spirit to remain here on Earth with them. • After enough time, death slaps become commonplace. People have DNS (do not slap) instructions in their wills instead of or along with DNR (do not resuscitate) ones. • HOWEVER, because everyone expects the death slaps, they no longer have the desired effect. Getting slapped is just a natural part of dying, now, but it accomplishes nothing. • Like with all cultural junk, the origin eventually slips away, and the knowledge of WHY we slap the dying is esoteric at best. • I, however, remember, and haunt hospitals for centuries, laughing because everybody’s gettin’ slapped. • Thank you for your time.
What the fuck man
Excuse me, do you have a better idea?
roses and rose geraniums for katie! thanks for coming!
One of the CNAs is like 22 and really funny and outgoing and one of the resident's first name's is Mildred and she's pretty far into Alzheimer's but whenever Stacia calls her "Milly-Wap" she smiles really big and it's so cute.
Seriously though adulting is the LEAST scary thing. Like you're independent And in control And not relying on anyone else so no one else can fuck your life up Being an adult is fantastic
