A Call For Help!
I know, I know. When was the last time I posted something? I donât remember either. I promise that will change soon (as life is settling down for me), and Iâve come back to tumblr today to ask for your helpâŚ
Thereâs a wonderful show on NBC called âTimelessâ. You may have heard of its untimely (ha ha) cancellation last year and the reversal of that decision. Well, tonight is the season finale of that miracle second season. There has yet to be a decision as to whether we will get a third season and itâs pretty obvious that NBCâs decision is somewhat hinging on how the finale does tonight. As a Canadian who doesnât contribute to live Nielsen ratings, Iâve decided to post this and try to drum up some support from my remaining followers and the fandom community at large! Why should you help? Well, we have all had a show that we have loved whos fate has been uncertain; Iâm asking you, from one fandom fanatic to another, to help out my fandom! Lets band together and save a truly wonderful show!
What makes Timeless so great? Let me tell ya!
TIME TRAVEL!!! The show takes viewers to so many wonderful and devastating points in history. While the show does take some liberties with actual historical facts, Iâve learned so much while watching the show!! For instance, I had no clue who Alice Paul was until the show aired âMrs. Sherlock Holmesâ, where I learned how instrumental she was to womenâs suffrage and the creation of the 19th amendment. While the show largely focuses on American history, there are episodes that focus on history elsewhere such as World War II in Germany and The Great War in France (featuring Marie and Irene Curie, btw!!!)
Speaking of, this show is chock-full of fabulous women??? Lucy Preston, main character who is a badass historian smol bean. Agent Christopher, homosexual woman of colour badass mom and homeland security agent. Jiya, another badass woman of colour who is the cutest genius superhero. Even Emma Whitmore, one of the villains who has a backstory and is fierce and smart (even tho sheâs an asshole, itâs cool). How about some of the badass women throughout history we see? Judith Campbell, Katherine Johnson, Bonnie Parker, Josephine Baker, Marie Curie and her daughter Irene, Hedy Lamarr, Abiah Franklin, Alice Paul, Grace Humiston, and Harriet Tubman, to name a few.
Also this show is hilarious. Some of the one-liners have had me in stitches. Rufus Carlin, 1/3 of the time team and amazing POC, is a comedian I swear. Also heâs a precious cinnamon roll who needs to be protected at all costs.
You get a ship, and you get a ship, everybody gets a ship! Seriously though, whatever flavour of ship youâre into, Timeless gotchu. We have Lyatt (Lucy/Wyatt), Riya (Rufus/Jiya), and Garcy (Garcia/Lucy) as our main staples. Take yo pick.
Also historical fashion that makes me, fashion nerd, salivate.
There are many, many other reasons but this is a novel already. SO, how can you help?
