Count Verandis Ravenwatch was no novice when it came to the matter of dreams.

The Markarth DLC is giving me an entire feast. I must take advantage of the inspiration it’s giving me!

I also had to frantically look up if Elder Scrolls vampires sleep, because I realized that could just ruin the whole premise of the fic before it even started. Lucky for me, they do!

while researching a new relic, Fennorian has a different kind of discovery…

Catching feelings for one of his best friends was certainly not something he was prepared for.

Like, I fully expected for Fennorian’s torture to not even be mentioned while in Rada’s lab because it wasn’t relevant to the quest, but no! He talked about it! Only a little, but full-on admitted to being very bothered and uncomfortable being in that kind of setting again. And the whole time he’s also worrying about how he hasn’t had time to get a proper reunion with Verandis, and felt like everything was moving too fast.

And meanwhile, Gwendis was angry. She’s good at being angry, but there was also a lot of emotional vulnerability in her character here. She talked about past experiences and worries, and was allowed to show all this.

I just adore that the characters were allowed to be emotional despite how fast and urgent the quests were. It didn’t feel awkwardly thrown in there either. Everything fit so well and had its place.

But more than anything else, this conflict was because Verandis and Rada loved each other more than just words could express. We learn at the final fight with Rada that he’s seeking to save Verandis and bring him salvation. But Verandis sees the cost, the entirety of mortal souls in the Reach, as too high. His love for the mortals hasn’t waned throughout the centuries, and he’s not willing to sacrifice them for his own freedom.

And we’re led to believe that Verandis’ deep, undying love is what led to his own downfall and final sacrifice. He gave himself up to the power of the Dark Heart to not only stop Rada’s ritual, but also restore the hundreds of mortal lives that had been lost in this conflict.

Because of his love, Verandis basically ascends to godhood. He had many, many regrets in life, and felt like the entire Gray Host and Rada were his creations. They were, in a way, but Rada also had his own mind and own love.

Rada’s love was selfish.

Verandis’ love was selfless.

they just mean a lot to me 💜

But since I’ve gotten too disabled to fight anymore, I… find myself coming back to that maiden in a tower. It’s that funny thing, where subverting femininity is powerful for the people who have always been forced into it… but for the people who have always been excluded, the powerful thing can be embracing it.

As I’m disabled, as I say to groups of friends, “I can’t walk that far,” as I’m in too much pain to keep partying, I find myself worrying: I’m boring, too quiet, too stationary, irrelevant. The message sent to the disabled is: You’re out of the narrative, you’re secondary, you’re a burden.

The remarkable thing about the maiden in her tower is not her immobility; it’s common for disabled people to be abandoned, set adrift, waiting at bus stops or watching out the windows, forgotten in institutions or stranded in our houses. The remarkable thing is that she’s like a beacon, turning her tower into a lighthouse; people want to come to her, she’s important, she inspires through her appearance and words and craftwork.  In medieval romances she gives gifts, write letters, sends messengers, and summons lovers; she plays chess, commissions ballads, composes music, commands knights. She is her household’s moral centre in a castle under siege. She is a castle unto herself, and the integrity of her body matters.

That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. Die Gedenken Sind Frie baby. This is all a reaction to people getting uppity about their lowly lowly rights and is being propped up by the same bad actors tht have made life unlivable. Fuck that shit.

"Well it's only being rolled out in Brazil and UK" Yeah, to start. "Well they're being forced to do this by laws." YOu know it's always really funny when these tech giants (Or whatever you call owning tumblr dot com) get really antsy about laws considering they pick and choose which ones they abide by.

Not necessarily a bad thing, though! Just means I'm being extra creative and am enjoying sharing that creativity with you all! Thank you all, truly, for all of the lovely comments, encouraging words, and offers to hear my crazy ideas. And even help me with those ideas when the creative juices dry up.
