“Well you wouldn’t be discriminated against if you just hid everything about who you are from everyone”
Hey. Hey. Listen. Come close. Closer. Yeah. Listen.
*blows an air horn in your ear*
You know as a trans person especially it’s wack to hear gay people make this kind of argument.
“You could just not transition” or “You could just stay stealth”
And you could just pretend to be straight forever and cheat on your spouse that you never loved in the first place and die of stress and alcoholism related causes in your 60s. But you know that that’s generally not a good time so you’re not doing that. Connect the dots, bitch. I’m not the enemy here.
“I don’t understand the whole trans thing”
And a lot of people don’t understand the whole gay thing so why don’t why don’t you shut the hell your mouth up
So, in addition to being queer (see above) and autistic* (wouldn't be discriminated against if I perfectly masked my whole life), I am also an immigrant. And because of that, the whole "you wouldn't be discriminated against if you just hid who you are" thing brings to my mind the people who insist that all immigrants have a duty to perfectly assimilate - only ever speak English, anglicize their names, leave behind any cultural ties to their home country, and so on
So you can probably guess how I feel about that
*self-diagnosed for now, but I am planning to get assessed at some point
