I wonder if some of the issues with this fandom is the age of the viewers. I surround myself with people my own age (30, youngest friend is ~22) & the people I watch this show with in particular are closer to my age. We have differing opinions on things in the show, different ways of seeing it, but in all we have one agreement - this fandom is one of the worst we've seen. And we were there for Voltron & Steven Universe- 😬

So what is it that makes these people so upset? From what I've seen, not only with this fandom but many through the years, is that people get upset when something they enjoy doesn't go exactly how they want. But this is not THEIR story.

Am I saying The Amazing Digital Circus is without flaws? Absolutely not! Everything has flaws, and nothing is perfect. There were things I felt could have been handled differently, but I don't think ANY of it was born from malice or hatred - and some people I've seen act like Gooseworx herself is some force of ignorant evil! She just wanted to make a show she was passionate about, and this fandom sucked any life and love left for it out of her.

So yeah, keep ranting about how Ragatha being written as a lesbian upsets you b/c she isn't a 'perfect representstion', keep bitching about Jax's trans identity being 'unnecessary', keep moaning about how Pomni has 'no relatability'. Just remember that these aren't YOUR characters written for YOUR gaze. If you don't like the show... don't watch it? We're lucky to get any representstion at all in this piece of shit country, and when we finally do, people are chastised for it not being done 'correctly'. Gatekeeping makes no sense in this community, because everyone's journeys/personalities/etc are different. Maybe I'm getting old & grumpy, but fuuuuck..
