Makeup?
“Nothing against it, but it’s not for me. You’re lucky to get me to leave the house with pants on. Makeup is way too much effort. This is au naturel.”
Favorite beverage?
“That’s impossible to choose. It’s like picking your favorite child. But, for the record, one time I put a chocolate milkshake, a strawberry milkshake, a large fries, three hamburgers, and a diet coke in the blender and I swear I felt what I imagine Archie feels when he falls in love.”
What is their biggest regret?
“One time I nearly ruined my friends’ lives by posting a music video that went viral. Everyone became laughingstocks, and Betty’s chances at college were almost ruined. I fixed it, but it still makes me feel queasy when I think about it.”
What makes them feel guilty?
“Not much, to be honest. But if it involves disappointing or hurting the people I care about, that’ll do it.”
31
Most prized possession?
“Definitely the whoopee cap.”
44!
Superstitions or views on the occult?
“I’m definitely superstitious about some things. My hat is a lucky hat, and it feels wrong when it’s off my head unless it’s for sleep or something. I just know when I don’t wear it, I usually have more bad luck than when I do wear it.”
“And the occult? Listen, I’ve played enough fantasy games to know that there’s good and bad in every class. So yeah, there’s probably bad BURGERS and evil COOL TEENS. But I’d bet my third stomach that there’s good ones too.” And he happens to know at least one COOL TEEN.

✝ : i promise he blinks. only when necessary though. eyes now panned to the wreck of a table, clear of all food. every last drop was gone. it was astounding, and yet still repulsive. that notebook of his was then pulled back up to jot down some new information, then stuffed within his pocket once again. in the midst of that, it seems the other has gone off on a very edgy monologue that truly had no correlation to what was going on at the given moment at all. he’d stare blankly for a moment or two, letting the silence linger before uttering nothing more than,
“….alright then.”
this ‘weirdo’ has been deemed worth his time to look further into. fortunate for korekiyo, not so fortunate for jughead. even if it weren’t just for the inhuman appetite, he’d be interesting in the bizarre personality.
“anyway. are you hungry still?”
he’s not making any promises of more food. he glanced at the sheen that coated his hand and squinted a bit. well, it’s not like his bare hands are going to touch it anyway. a bandaged hand rose and took a hold of it.
“korekiyo shinguji. it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, jughead-san.”
Jughead decides to step off of the proverbial high horse for a second, making sure to flash a wide smile as he did so to show he wasn’t entirely kidding about that speech. After all, it’s such an out of character thing for him to say. Juggie loves his weirdness, but ranting about it is the dumbest thing. And his hat is cool, and no one can tell him otherwise. Anyone who would say or write that stuff unironically doesn’t understand him at all. It would almost be as bad as making him date somebody.
“Am I hungry? I know we just met, but that’s the dumbest question I’ve ever heard.” And to punctuate his response, Jughead reaches into his pocket and pulls out a candy bar he saved earlier. “Yeah, I could eat. And I’m totally willing to work as a lab rat to a great scientific discovery. It wouldn’t be the first time.” Dilton Doiley has definitely done more than a few ultrasounds and food studies over the years. Jughead drew the line at dissection, though, at least until he’s dead.
“You don’t need to add the san. Jughead’s fine. Nice to meet you, uh...” He tries to think of a good way to shorten that, like Arch or Brina or Bets. “Kore?”

✝ : does korekiyo blink? the answer is: sometimes. the prolonged eye contact did not bother him whatsoever, and he was honestly used to it, since he’s normally the one initiating it. he still was not very amused by this display. where are all the interesting subjects who are willing to cooperate? well, there probably is none.
“i am well aware of how the human body processes food in an average case, but you clearly are not an average case. you cannot sit here and tell me that you are like everyone else when you have consumed four times the amount of food a normal human can in one sitting. it’s not normal. do you simply not know, and that is why you are avoiding an answer? what is your threshold?”
as much as korekiyo would love to throw more and more food at him to see when he inevitably pops, he has little money to work with and no job as of yet. he’s too new to this city to be spending his money willy nilly. he’d have to think before doing anything irrational.
“yes, but i am an anthropologist. human studies is what i do. normally it is more culture and folklore based, but my interests branch out into humanity as a whole. i eat like any other person does. just like you showed me. i chew and swallow.”
Alright, that was a bit unsettling. Jughead wasn’t sure if this other guy just timed his blinks exactly with his own or if he just never blinked, but either way the gaze sent goosebumps down Juggie’s arms. But he’s not one to judge a book by its horrifying lack of blinking, so he just relaxes into the seat and pats his stomach. The plates in front of him are empty, and every single bit of hamburger and fry made it into the man’s mouth. Except for that one fry he shared.
“Of course I’m not like everyone else. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m weird. I’m a weirdo. I don’t fit in and I don’t—... wanna fit in.” Jughead gestures to his whoopee cap. “See this hat? That’s weird. But that’s who I am. And part of who I am is happily eating a twenty course burger meal with an anthropologist I just met. So yeah, four times the normal amount? Let’s make it eight. Sixteen. Thirty-two. I’ll put money on it. Money that I will then spend on more burgers.”
“By the way, speaking of culture, I just realized I never introduced myself. My friends call me Jughead.” He reaches a hand across the table for the other to accept. His fingers are a bit shiny from the residual grease from the burger, but it’s mostly clean. “Cuz my real name is long and a bit dumb.”
