So...they want a hivemind, huh? These Upper Amberdine dudes have taken the book 1984 as an instruction manual, huh? Also...that explains why Tagged are creating new ones - helping to spread the control, and such. I don’t remember if I’ve asked this before, but you seem like the right person to ask if I haven’t. What is the full scope of capabilities that a Tagged’s chip can do?
Liv continues speaking after Steel climbs his way back up onto her shoulder from her arm, seeming very comfortable in her presence. The woman agrees that he’s a good boy until you try to spook him, giving R a playful look before speaking again. She’s too interested to stop rambling.
“Here, I’ll answer two of you at once,” she starts, pushing her glasses up again. “The thing about the Tagged is that we always make a conscious effort to avoid them. All the time. They’re very dangerous, and sometimes if you go after one an entire horde of them will pop up out of nowhere and ambush you. It’s too much of a gamble to make regularly,” she explains. “Which is why we’ve never acquired a chip from a dead Tagged, and why we aren’t entirely sure what the chips do to the human brain. It almost seems to ‘brick’ them, making them into a kind of mindless hivemind like our friend Shadow here says,” she continues. “As much as I would enjoy getting my hands on one so I could analyze it and hopefully figure out what it really does, this is a case where we would have to put someone’s safety on the line in order to get one. However, assuming the chip wouldn’t self-destruct or brick upon being detached from a host, it could very much be possible!”
