everybody gathered at your place? “we don’t do that here” is a handy phrase. no fatphobia in my house. we don’t do that here.

stop saying shit like “ugh i ate so much i’m gonna get fat” “i’m gonna have to spend weeks at the gym to work this off”. everybody overindulges in rich foods at holidays, that’s what holidays are for. back up from that and compliment the food instead. say you’re glad to have a full stomach of delicious food in good company.

being fat isn’t a bad thing. it just is. enjoying food with family and/or friends is a good thing. and both of these are very human things. so celebrate and enjoy the company and the deliciousness and the atmosphere instead of beating a non-issue into the ground and making yourself or others miserable.

10 years ago, I actually had a job dressing up as Spider-Man for kids birthday parties. I’ll never forget this one birthday boy- his name was Trevor, and I don’t want to say anything bad about him, but let’s just say he was a real Trevor. 

He kept kicking my shins and screaming “You’re not Spider-Man! You’re not Spider-Man!” Look, I don’t know if you’ve ever been kicked by a 7 year old while wearing a $30 Walmart Spider-Man suit, but it will break you. It will break your spirit. 

But it also lit a fire under me, and I don’t know where he is now, but Trevor, if you’re watching, I just want to say…
