“Peter stood looking at me very puzzled for a minute and finally walked over and sat down. ‘Do you know if it’s true that “Lady Madonna” was banned on some of the East Coast stations?’ he asked. ‘Because if it is true, I wish you’d print that I think it’s deplorable.’ I told him I didn’t know if it was true, but I’d certainly print his request. He would often sing or hum it to himself during brief stops and at one point he picked up a guitar and Davy joined him as they sang the song all the way through.
