Misery Loves Company // Zander And Mable
He glared at his phone until the number popped up, and and instant smile formed on his face. He basically jumped up off the couch. He let it ring a few times before answering it. âUh.. Hello?â He paused, hoping that she could hear how much he was smiling from how his voice sounded. âI uh.. Come over? Uh. Yeah, sure. I-Iâd love to.â He assured her, laughing a bit. He heard the basement pounding coming from the basement and his stomach dropped, He knew exactly what it was. His sister always pounded on the door to try and get the key to fall from on top of the door frame. Usually it never worked but since he heard it squeak open shortly after he knew sheâd gotten out. âOh shit." He mumbled under his breath, hoping that she didnât hear him. If anyone knew his sister was still living with him, or even alive for that matter. Theyâd put her into a mental hospital. "Yeah. Uh â Can you just hang on, for one second." He set his phone down on the back of the couch, hitting the mute button. He quickly ran over to the table where he had the tranquilizers that calmed her down enough to get her back into her bedroom. Pulled one of the shots out of the box and quickly took the cap off. He hid behind the door with the needle at his side so when she stepped around the corner he could grab her and give her the shot so he can keep her calm for the next 5 hours. Those were as long as the shots lasted. She came around the corner and he quickly grabbed her, putting his hand over her mouth. Her muffled screams broke his heart, he hated having to do this to her but it was the only way to keep her calm. He removed his hand from her mouth and wrapped his arm strongly around her arms so the screams were very clear. He put the shot in her neck and she quickly calmed down. He took a deep breath and held her in his arms. He walked her down two storyâs underneath the ground and put her back in her room. He set her on the bed and kissed her cheek. "I love you." He told her in a soft tone before exiting the room, locking the door behind him. This time he made sure he kept the key in his pocket. He made his way back upstairs and walked over to his phone. That was when he realized he didnât mute it. Without saying a word, he hit the end button and just fell to the floor. He knew she heard everything. Now there was no way sheâd ever talk to him again.
He answered and his angelic voice flowed into her ears. It brought a smile to her delicate features. She could practically hear the grin that was most likely tugging his lips now. "Really? That's great!" She bit down on her lesser lip, a small grin painted on her pink lips. She was a bit excited that he'd agreed to come over. Mable didn't know what it was about him, but he really made her feel better. Maybe it was just being around someone who sort of understood her pain, and what she's had to go through. Seconds later she'd hear a faint mumble slip from his mouth, she couldn't quite make out what he said, but it didn't sound good. "Yeah.. Yeah okay." She nodded, tucking her lips. The tone of his voice was low, and certainly didn't sound to good. Something was wrong, and she could tell. Zander sat down the phone, and she heard faint foot steps.. that soon became silent. She sat with her ear to the phone, and her feet propped up on her couch, biting at her nails, waiting for him to come back. It sounded like she heard a strange shuffling in the background, but she couldn't hear through the phone that well. That is, until she heard screaming coming through the speaker into her ear. Mable's eyes widened when she heard the blood curdling screams. Her mouth dropped, and her stomach sank to the floor. What the hell was going on over there.. Should she really be afraid of this guy? As far as she knew, his sister was gone.. and he lived in that house all alone. Was she back? Maybe that was what she was hearing. Mable tried to keep an open mind, listening to the madness. Soon, the screams silenced, and she only heard faint foot steps. It sounded like someone had picked up the line, but before she could say anything it was cut off. She pulled the phone from her face, and stared at the screen for a moment. There had to be more to this story.. and she was determined to find out. Mable was dressed in her PJ's and a light jacket to keep her extra warm. She wanted to find out what was going on at his house. She slipped on her shoes and headed out the door of her house, and into the dark woods that separated their homes. Mable switched on the flashlight of her iPhone, stepping slowly through the cold woods. Every sound she heard had her on edge, causing her to keep looking around her. It only took a couple minutes to get to his house, and up to his door. Mable stood at his door, taking a deep breath before her knuckle met the door, knocking a few times.
