"max wouldn't last a year in ferrari!" and what good has lasting and wasting in ferrari done for anyone in the past 19 years? are we collecting struggling points?

"as soon as he doesn't have a competitive car he wants to leave!" and the current rumour is placing him in a team that's hardly doing any better. but sure, let's pretend this is about nothing but the current competitiveness.

I can’t with this team…. Why bother calling max your best sensor if you never listen to him. They acknowledged there was an issue with the engine but still chose not to change it…. Guess we’ll see what happens

I don’t like to just blindly defend the team but they’re making decisions with information we don’t have. I personally don’t like to assume I’m smarter than the people with all the knowledge because at the end of the day it’s not likely I have an idea that they haven’t had.

They may think changing the engine leaves them exposed later in the season if they have to take an engine penalty. They may have updated the car significantly by then and then have a 10 place penalty to contend with, throwing away a win because they changed the engine in a race they were never going to win anyway. If come Qatar they have a great car but Max has to start 14th because of an engine change everyone will be saying “why did they bother using their allowance when they knew their car was shit”. I’m not saying this is the reason but these must be the discussions they’re having. They know what’s coming round the bend, the limitations of the track with regard to their apparently inferior recharging, the bad starts. I don’t think it’s as simple as “new engine make quicker”.
