USA TODAY picks 10 who entertained us most in 2019
Taylor Swift
America clearly still loves Taylor Swift. The 29-year-old pop superstarβs seventh studio album, βLover,β released in August, was hailed by fans and critics alike, with a string of favorable reviews including USA TODAYβs, which called it βless focused and more open-heartedβ than anything sheβs released since βRed.β When the album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard, it was the biggest sales week since her previous album, βReputationβ in 2017. Swift again topped the Forbes highest-paid celebrity list, beating out billionaire Kylie Jenner. The βYou Need to Calm Downβ singer also took stands in 2019, advocating for the pro-LGBTQ Equality Act and slamming Big Machineβs sale of her previous masters to Scooter Braun, whom Swift accused of βincessant, manipulative bullying.β Swift will receive the artist of the decade award at the American Music Awards on Nov. 24, when she has a chance to break Michael Jacksonβs record for most wins.
