An angel
It's Monday, the harddest day of the week. Like many other days recently, I haven't slept well, I come back to the office to face many issues. I am in a bad mood and feel like nothing is going right, I go for a walk during my lunch break when I see that man on a bench smiling, I politely smile back and say "Hello". From then we start chatting. James is from Gambia, he is a refugee and has been in Hong Kong for 4 years. He literally has nothing : a room to sleep, a bit of cash from HK government that allows him to eat just enough and that's it. But he is happy, he says so and that seems to be true. When I ask him if his condition isn't too hard he tells me that's God's plan and he is patient. We go on chatting about Europe, Africa, Hong Kong...My break is nearly over, I give him my phone number, think about asking to take his picture but finally don't, sometimes it's just better that way. On my way back to the office I'm realizing that my problems as much as they affect me are not unsurmountable and that I'm very lucky. I'm still troubled and admirative by such wisdom, I certainly needed that. Thanks James.

Yau Ma Tei - Part 2 Fuji X100 I suffer from insomnia again so today, at 5am I left home with my camera and cycled to the Yau ma Tei fruit market. I decided to shoot a reportage about it. Rather unusually, I used a digital camera, the original Fuji X100 and I decided it would be in colour. The camera is fairly slow but coming from a mechanical camera it was manageable. I can see now how shooting film gave me some restraints, I only took about 50 photos and narrowed it down to the best 10 that I am sharing here. I definitely enjoyed this session and although I really need to sleep, I would like to find another subject to shoot at night. Hope you enjoy the photos!
