the scene where the woman with cotard’s syndrome is under will’s bed and asks if she’s alive and even though she killed someone and broke into his house he just reaches out and holds her hand so they both know they’re real is genuinely very touching. crazy people solidarity forever.

i had completely forgotten that the encephalitis plot makes me this squeamish but it does explain why i remember liking seasons 2 and 3 so much more even though i’ve been having a lot of fun with s1 so far. i like the homegrown organic insanity of will still acting crazy as fuck without the debilitating brain infection.

hannibal the show is a comedy to me but the encephalitis plotline does make me legitimately mad at hannibal the character. i’m down with all the lying and murdering and psychological torment but i draw the line at convincing another doctor to hide that a patient has a brain infection.
