Water filter: MSR Miniworks ceramic pump, screwed onto a Nalgene bottle. SO SLOW IT'S THE WORST. Sorry, dad, that's just how I feel about it (it's his standby). Also featured is a generic water bottle (smartwater I guess?) and a 4L Camelbak that I neglect to draw, but was usually my main source of hydration via the tube. Lemme tell ya... water's heavy.

Bye bye raccoons! I hope you enjoyed them; I didn't see another raccoon anywhere for the rest of the trail! (but if you like the fat brazen animal stories don't worry - the Sierras are chock full of marmots)
I wish I could include the porcupine we saw in 2014. Biiiiig round critter, very cute. Even cuter was the gaggle of five or six REALLY HAPPY thru-hikers walking slowly behind it for a quarter of a mile down the trail, wearing the biggest smiles you ever did see
