(speakers on) I’m taking a social media class this semester, and one of the objectives is to promote something. I don’t actually have anything to promote, so I’m creating a soundtrack for an imaginary electronic act called Dope Breakfast. More to come. #homerecording #homestudio (at Austin, Texas)

Random shots of Laugavegur street (the main drag in Reykjavik). My first trip here was about a year and a half ago; the city has changed so much in that time. The last picture here is a bar in what’s now called Hlemmur Square; that building used to be the main bus terminal. #iceland #reykjavik #laugavegur (at Reykjavík, Iceland)

Laundry day in Reykjavík. The Laundromat Cafe on Austurstræti (near the Parliament) has laundry machines and killer brunch. Also, all the walls are lined with books #iceland #reykjavik #laundry (at The Laundromat Cafe)
Sunset over Sólheimasandur beach in south Iceland. If you were to walk south for about 45 minutes, you’d reach the famous DC-3 plane wreckage. I really wanted to see it, but Iceland winter weather is no joke; the winds were picking up, snow was starting to fall, we had about an hour of daylight left and I still had to drive though the Hellisheiði mountains (which is probably one of the scariest drives I’ve ever done in the dark). Next time I come back, it’ll be in the spring or summer, and I’ll actually take the hike to see the wreckage. #iceland #blacksandbeach #dc3wreckage #ringroadiceland (at Dc-3 Plane Wreckage)
Reyniskirkja church in the village of Vík í Mýrdal. We tried to drive down to the black sand beach at Reynisfjara, but we were worried about weather conditions and losing daylight for the drive back. #iceland #reynisfjara #reyniskirkja (at Reynisfjara Beach)
If you want to travel to Iceland, you'll find that flights and lodging are pretty cheap. But once you get there, you'll find that everything else is...not. Casual restaurants will run at least $25-30 per person, more for high-end dining downtown. A beer will run you about $9-10 at a bar, $15 or more for a cocktail. Here are a few cheap eats I found in Reykjavik: ➡️ Svarta Kaffið (Laugavegur and Vitastigur): small bar that only sells two kinds of soup- meat and vegetable. But, it's damn good soup and served in a bread bowl, and it's only 1550 kr (about $15). The place fills up quick so get there early to avoid waiting in line. ➡️ Hot Dogs: Icelanders love them. There are several stands around downtown Reykjavik where you can get a hot dog and a Coke for around 500 kr. Get it with fried onions and mustard. ➡️ Noodle Station (Laugavegur and Snorrabraut, next to Hlemmur bus station): huge bowl of chicken or beef soup for 1580 kr, or vegetable for 980 kr. This place is probably the best deal in Reykjavik. ➡️ Food in general: eat at home when you can, brown bag it when you go on tours/road trips. The cheapest grocery stores (relatively speaking.. it's an island. Groceries will cost more than you're used to in America) are Bónus and Nettó, several locations around downtown Reykjavik. 10-11 stores are easy to find, and open 24 hrs a day, 365 days/year, but are almost twice as much as regular stores, so beware. ➡️ Drinking in general: drink like an Icelander... buy your booze ahead of time and pre-game at home before you go out. Alcohol is heavily regulated by the state and is pretty pricey, so stock up at the duty-free store before you leave the airport #iceland #reykjavik #travel #cheapeats (at Reykjavík, Iceland)
After two weeks in Iceland, 12 hours in Baltimore, six hours in planes/airports, and about five hours in a car, I’m back at home in Texas with my best friend who is tired and kinda confused. (he is currently figuring things out with the help of treats and snoozes) #dogs #repost @meganintx ・・・ Home. ❤️ (at Austin, Texas)

Megan: Icelandic Meteorologist, Episode 1 Season 1. #iceland #socold #glacier #solheimajokull (at Sólheimajökull Glacier)
Climate change is real. If you have any doubt about it, I invite you to drive about three hours east of Reykjavik and see the Sólheimajökull glacier. The Icelandic Meteorological Office claims that Sólheimajökull is a textbook example of the effects of global warming on Iceland’s rapidly melting glaciers. This glacier has been retreating about 164 feet (roughly the width of a football field) every year since 1986. You can see in the video, which I recorded at the Perlan Museum in Reykjavik, the amount of melting that’s occurred at Sólheimajökull since 2007. This is just one glacier; about 11 billion tons of glacial ice is melting in Iceland every year. Iceland’s government made a pledge this week to exceed the goals of the Paris Agreement and to be carbon neutral by 2040. In 2018 I encourage you to look into what you can do, through individual and local action, to minimize your impact on the earth. 🌏 #climatechange #iceland #solheimajokull #glacier #savetheglaciers #savetheworld (at Sólheimajökull Glacier)
