Dante is a character in the same mold as Zelgadis Greywards, who was forced to crossdress to infiltrate a women-only holy city (actually that also involved the forced crossdressing of Xelos the Beast Priest, who is not just a half demon but a demon lord who is about the fourth most powerful being in his entire setting); Itsuka Shidō, who was forced to crossdress to seal a lesbian Spirit; and Masaaki Tenchi, who was forced to crossdress to get through a border space-station after a coup on Jurai. And that’s just the examples I could think of looking at my DVD shelf.

Don't you understand that intentions matter?

Dante is a iconic badass male hero from a franchise of action videogames, therefore he must be emasculated by a Western studio because they hate competent masculine heroes, like: get turned into a secundary comic relief buffon in his own show, make Lady more of a protagonist because she is a woman and crossdresing him as a humillation ritual.

It's a clear pattern in the last decade of emasculating male heroes: Luke Skywalker gets turned into a nihilistic grumpy old man in the Disney Sequels, Alucard gets fucked in the ass in the Netflix show (directed by Adi Shankar or whatever his name is too) of Castlevania, every male heroes that survived Endgame in the MCU gets turned into a useless buffon (Ant-Man, Hulk, Nick Fury)....
