bob loves cherry during the day. on weekdays, he will spend a sun abundant afternoon with her. He is SUCH a good actor, he knows just how to make his eyes glint in the right way when people mention her, small details only he’d ever notice were off about someone. He knew how to say he loves her in front of the right people when they asked, most charming tone known to man when he confidently states “and i love her.” and speaking about anything cherry has done.

bob loves randy at night. cold, dark weekends, randy will be sitting in his room, begging his eyes to shut so he can sleep. Then the blonde knocks on his window, and randy sits up. the brunette walks over to the window and opens it, then not long after bob sticks his head into the room. Bob loves randy at night, drunken, cold, weekend nights. Randy will get close enough to him on these nights to see the boys dark blue eyes glitter just at the sight of him in a way they didnt for cherry (or maybe its the alcohol.) pupils blown so wide you could mistake them for blackholes in the universe of bobs eyes.

those nights randy will hold him and bob will hold randy back and all will be good.

not any PARTICULAR reason on why, nothing big. shes a nice girl and all.

the right word for his “hate” is envy. marcia has randy, can be ALLOWED to have randy. marcia can walk the streets holding randys hand like its nothing and not get told anything about it. marcia can hang on randys arm and not have to hear people bugging about it. marcia can LOVE randy in a way bob just isnt able to.

so imagine bob holding randys hand in the privacy of randy’s mustang at the drive in, bobs rings push against randy’s fingers painfully but randy doesn’t complain more than a wince here and there. the lack of reaction causes bob to hold his hand harder, making his rings push on randys fingers more to force him to look at bob and only once hes had enough of randy’s attention is when he loosens his hold on his hand.

holding hands in general with rings is hard, so sometimes when drunk bob grabs randys left instead of his right, randy only wears rings on his left because hes right handed and thinks writing with rings on is a pain. bob wears rings on both his hands, so when he holds randys left their rings clink together, enabling bob from holding his hand in a proper way, frustrating him till he eventually just gives up on holding randys hand all together.

like SO deep in the closet; the first time he kissed randy, despite being severely drunk, he sobbed his eyes out for two HOURS begging randy to not tell anyone, not marcia, or trip, or paul, or randy’s parents, or his dog, not even bob himself when hes sober in the morning, so scared of what even he himself would think.

something similar happened with randy when he finally got a grip with his feelings for bob. less intense because he really couldnt care less about things like reputation (hippie) but he wasn’t exactly keen on getting jumped for loving a guy. made bob pinky swear not to tell anyone, as if they were kids again after breaking something.

bob and randy wore rings on their pinkies after that (accidentally causing a trend of pinky rings amongst socs) as a kind of reminder that they swore on their shared silence.

2 days in: he feels fine. he knows his limits so hes aware he cant drink everyday, two days is about the maximum of days he’s usually found sober. after two days hes back to drinking again like nothing, not this time apparently, randy made an ultimatum with him: randy will quit smoking if bob quits drinking. bob, being the biggest hater of smokers, takes him up on this offer

2 weeks: he is a MESS. withdrawal is a BITCH and its getting to him BAD. he is mad at everyone, more than usual. one minute hes yelling at randy for something, the next hes curled up against him sobbing about how much being sober actually legitimately hurts. hes so painfully aware of everything hes feeling and cant. do anything about it. he starts rambling on and on, worse than when he was actually drunk, about how he doesnt even LIKE half the shit he drinks and just likes the way it feels to drink it.

a month: hes more stable, still angry and upset to be sober, still snapping at the smallest things, still so disgustingly aware of how much he feels. he gets cravings now and again and calls randy to tell him about them and randy tries to help by telling him to just drink something else that he actually enjoys, this list includes things like sprite, chocolate milk surprisingly, coke, other various sodas, and just plain water. he rolls his eyes because its been the same thing hes been hearing this whole time, and hes not one for repetition. he just agrees and hangs up
