If Bob wasn't drunk he would have been able to think clearer so then he wouldn't have jumped Pony and Johnny
If Johnny's parents weren't drunk they wouldn't have made Johnny sleep in the lot
If Dallas hadn't been drunk while hitting on Cherry Bob wouldn't have gone after Pony and Johnny ( assuming he was drunk but he probably was)

I like to imagine Bob’s funeral sucked in the sense that it wasn’t about him it was about how his parents perceived him. It was like fancy but there was nothing that Bob would have would have wanted. It was just a show off. Like non of his friends were allowed to give speeches.
Now compare that to Dally’s and Johnny’s funeral. I don’t imagine it would have been a proper funeral. like it was dingy. Cheap. (Maybe there would have been funding for the funeral by the parents of the kids who were saved.) but the biggest difference was the funeral had heart.
It was an actual honour of their lives vs a show case of a trophy.

Fascinating how Ponyboy pictures Cherry as a stand in for himself, and Bob as a stand in for Soda.
