i'm only saying this bc hardly anyone is online and it feels relatively safe but i do think aaron is intimidated by kev on a romantic level too. i think he has been since the moment he saw robert crying for kev. i think he knows robert has some degree of real deep feelings for kev, and that really bothers him. maybe even scares him. and i think he thought robert might try and pander to him or placate him or beg forgiveness (because that's how it always goes. that's what happens when he kicks off. robert still comes running back.) but he hasn't (robert doesn't have any fight left in him) and that also bothers him. and i think the fact that kev has money bothers him (a leftover wound from the whites that he thought had long since healed). and i think that kev is well read bothers him. and to be perfectly honest i don't think any of those things would have bothered him a week ago because robert's love for him has been one of the pillars of his life for a decade but then he saw robert cry for someone else and now everything's off kilter. HE has lost his equilibrium. bc for the first time pretty much since they met robert has seemingly put someone before aaron (it's not that simple. that doesn't matter to aaron.) and aaron doesn't know what to do with that. it's like it's shattered his foundations and made him doubt things he's never doubted before. and there's echoes of 2014/15 aaron thinking he had nothing to offer robert when he was living on that big house on the hill with his beautiful rich wife but we're a decade on and neither of them are those men anymore and robert has quite literally never been more broken and on some level aaron knows that he can see that something is not right but he's too hurt and confused and caught up in his own feelings and issues to think clearly and im losing the thread of what im trying to say but my point is aaron isn't just intimidated by kev bc he's crazy and violent. he's intimidated bc robert loves him.
