The Riviera Maya Film Festival Returns of June 24  

The Riviera Maya Film Festival is returning for its´5th edition. The festival will be scrrening fims from June 24 to 30 in Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Festival organizers recently held a press conference to announce the various locations and venues that woud be used over the course of the week it is held..

The RMFF is becoming a major cultural event in the Mexican Caribbean thanks to the world-class films and industry talent visiting the Mexican Caribbean every year. Previous years have seen the best directors, actors, and industry representatives converge here for a week of film screening and workshops. 

The general public is invited to attend, and there will be many free screenings in Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Tulum,

More Cruise Ships Docking in Cozumel

The Carnival Cruise Line has expanded its cruise calls to Cozumel. The Cozumel Plus itineraries will be offered on 17 different Carnival ships and will extend the length of time the ships spend docked in Cozumel. Carnival currently offers four to eight day cruises to Cozumel from six ports in the united states along the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico.

Carnival is also adding a host of new excursions such as swimming with whale sharks and exploring hidden caverns to the nearly 50 tours that Carnival already offers in Cozumel.

More cruise ships to Cozumel will not only boost the economy in Cozumel but also in Playa del Carmen and surrounding areas. Convenient ferry's from Cozumel to Play del Carmen run every half an hour.

Condo-Hotels, Are They Right For You?

A condo-hotel is a multi unit property, where each unit is privately owned and the common areas are jointly owned by the individual unit owners. The property includes amenities commonly find in a hotel or resort such as swimming pools, a gym, restaurants, tennis courts, a spa, etc. Condo-Hotels may also have a lobby, reception area and front desk with the infrastructure to receive vacation renters. There is also a rental management company to maintain and operate the property.  The condo units will be part of the hotel’s rooms inventory to be rented to the public and operated by the hotel management company. Owners may use there condo or put it on the rental market to earn revenue when they are not using it.

Wine & Food Festival Cancun-Riviera Maya

The 5th annual Wine & Food Festival Cancun-Riviera Maya graces the area once again with top chefs and sommeliers from around the world. From April 28th - May 1st the flavors of Mexico, Spain and France will be celebrated and enjoyed.  Various hotel will be holding fun conferences, food tasting, wine and Mexican spirits tasting, and delicious tribute dinners. The college is even hosting cooking classes given by world famous chefs accompanied with a delicious lunch.  There is even a celebrity catamaran cruise and lunch around Isla Mujeres.

Mexico Real Estate Educational Seminar in Connecticut

Top Mexico Real Estate hosted an educational Mexico real estate seminar in Stamford, Connecticut. Guests dined on Mexican Cuisine while guest speakers who traveled all the way from Mexico gave informative presentations. Ivan Castillo the Regional Manager of Stewart Title Latin America discussed how foreigners can own real estate in Mexico and walked guests through the Mexico purchasing process. Jennifer Campbell the Executive Vice President of International Lending at LAG Mortgage talked about the financing options available to foreigners. Thomas Lloyd the Founder & CEO of Top Mexico Real Estate gave a presentation about evaluating and managing the risks of buying a pre-construction property in Mexico.

Playa´s 3D Museum of Wonders

Playa del Carmen´s new 3D museum officially opened on February 12 and will have more than 60 pieces of work on display by artist Kurt Wenner. There´s only five others in the world, and this 3D museum is unique in creating optical illusions and various other visual effects. Inside are two theaters that offer screenings in 3D and numerous pieces of three-dimensional art work.

It´s located in the Pelican Plaza on 10 calle norte and it provides a two-hour interaction with various works by the international artist. The 3D Museum of Wonders was created with a private investment of one million US.

During the closing of the real estate transaction a buyer must pay closing costs, which are divided in multiple parts: 

Notary Public

They formalize the legal act through a deed that will contain the transfer of title 

Transfer of Property Tax

Buyers needs to pay a commercial appraisal. The payment of taxes are calculated based on the highest of 3 factors- the purchase price, the commercial appraisal and the assessed value, the value that is appointed by the government. 

Trustee Bank

#1: for the obtainment of a permit that is issued by the Ministry of Foreign affairs. 

#2: Escrow and legal fees.

US Dollar Makes History by Reaching 18 Pesos

For first time ever the United States dollar has made history by passing 18 pesos. On Wednesday Jan. 6 the dollar was selling at 18.10 pesos, peaking after a steady increase in the dollar to peso exchange rate ove the past year. 

As the economy continues to improve your U.S. dollar will buy more Mexican Pesos than it has for a long time. and as bad as this is for Mexicans there is an upside. Your powerful U.S. dollars will buy more today than it did before!
