Although intended as a joke, Alex couldn’t help but focus on River calling himself homicidal. Something about it seemed to ring truth about the statement but Alex made herself shrug it off for the time being. It was a joke after all. “You don’t seem the kind of let others bother you. If anything you seem the kind to get under everyone else’s skin.”.

"Hmm, Lets' just say both. For example, people like Anthony Harrison annoy the daylights out of me, but for people like Lance Lahey, I'm pretty certain I'm the bane of their existence" He grinned, slightly too darkly

Alex snorted rather unattractively as River continued to speak of his nature as a deal breaker. Hitler and MLK weren't often used in the same sentence especially when describing ones self. "So you're a genocidal womaniser? How pleasant."

"The former is more ideal..." He muttered under his breath "I'm not genocidal. More Homicidal if anything" He said in a jokingly way "Some people really know how to get under your skin" River sat down opposite Alex, indicating his interest in keeping the conversation going

"Oh do you know?" Alicia replied sceptically, a smirk plastering her face. She could already tell that she would like this River person. First impressions can be tough but this far the man wasn’t doing too badly. "And why does that make me lucky? Do you intent to make history with me?"

"Wow. you must have a very active imagination, Miss" River chuckled at the comment "You must have misunderstood me, I meant I'm a game-changer, a deal-breaker. I make history like Hitler, or MLK"

"A job actually. I’m a teacher and I was offered a job at the local high school. History’s kind of my thing." Alex wished that sentence hadn’t made her seem overly enthusiastic about the subject but that couldn’t be changed now. "What do you do?"

"Lucky for you, I make history" He bragged, knowing full well she'd ask what he meant in a second. He thought quickly about how he could big himself up in the next few moments to make a good first impression

"Thank you. I do try to flatter where I can." Alex took a seat next to the stranger before speaking again. "I’m Alex. Now you know who I am you can return the favour and introduce yourself."

"My name? Williams. River Williams. Pleasure to meet you Alex. So, what brings you to The Hamptons?"

A Big Bang || Crystal & River [Closed]

  Crystal had been in mesmerized by the display of exploding fireworks, so hadn’t noticed River at first, but the moment her name was uttered and she took notice of the source of the call her eyes widened in slight horror. River was definitely the last person she had wanted to start her new year with, and after their last meet, so much about him felt off. ”Mr. Williams… H-happy new year.” she stammered, the weird feeling of dread filling the pit of her stomach again. The feeling was un-based, yet felt justified.

"Happy new year" He replied back, monotonously at the very most. "So, let me guess. Brand new year, brand new you?" He chuckled, lighting the mood after sensing some tension. "I know that's a bit much to ask of our relationship anyway" He hadn't once looked at Crystal, just focused on the show

Damn River and his instincts. As much as she wanted to hate him he was completely right. Well in a new manner of speaking anyway. The man in question had simply told her what she had been trying to hide from herself all along. "No River. No one has anything to except for me and you.... I don't think you're a bad person. I never have. Not even when we've fought over our pride." Damn River! Why did he have to tell her all of this now. Right when Alicia would do almost anything to not have this conversation. "You can't expect me to stay by your side. Not when you act the way you do."

"I understand that. But I trusted you, and you're just proving you're less trustworthy than me than stabbing me in the back like this. At least I kept to one thing" No, that was not what he should be saying right now "Just hear me out before you let me go. You must have believed at one point that what I was doing was right. Otherwise you never would have put up with me"
