“Nothing,” Will says, right into Mike’s ear. “Still feeling good?” So good. Mike makes sure to not say it aloud this time. “I think,” Mike says slowly, heart pounding, “I need” — Will pulls back just a little, just enough for their noses to bump against each other, clumsy, and Mike bites the bullet — “one more.” Will is still in Mike’s lap, which is maybe not very platonic of him, and the joint has smoldered its way down to the end, nearly over, all eaten up by the fire. Will swallows thickly, then leans closer, a perfect imitation of their positions from earlier. Mike isn’t sure how long it’s been, but fire has been eating away at him too, this whole time, leaving him on the brink of going up in smoke, slow and burning and so good. “Yeah?” Will murmurs, realization dawning on him, eyes wide. “One more?”

Summary:

Will takes a moment, hands clenched into fists at his sides, to rest his head against the grain of the wood and close his eyes. Here, with the solid weight of the door to ground him, he evaluates the facts: the war is over, Vecna dead and gone for good this time. Max is awake, reunited with Lucas and El at last, who both rushed to return to their places at her bedside the moment they knew. The rest of his family is upstairs, the rest of his friends alongside them, alive and mostly well and rejoicing in the fact that a years-long nightmare has finally reached its conclusion. It’s a night for togetherness, for celebrating hard-earned victories, for finally looking ahead instead of back over their shoulders. It’s also a night where Will almost killed Mike.

In the midst of their final stand against Vecna, a possessed Will nearly strangles Mike to death. In the basement bathroom of the Wheeler's house after their victory, Mike and Will confront the aftermath.

but michelle obviously is dealing with inhuman levels of repression and internalised homophobia so she doesn't realise she's into girls but they're both girls right they're both best friends so there's no problem if michelle can't help herself from intertwining her hands with willow's or subconsciously tracing willow's fingers and the bones of her hands and palms and forearms or losing herself in willow's eyes and even occasionally pressing a kiss to willow's cheek whenever michelle is overwhelmed by her (obviously platonic) love for willow, its cause they're best friends, being overwhelmed by love and unable to stop touching her is just the sheer best friendism of their relationship what else would it be

whenever this happens (and it happens quite a lot) willow tenses up, blood rushing to her face and her mind ends up somewhere between considering running away to a corner of the earth where michelle can never find her or dreaming of dragging michelle to somewhere they won't be interrupted for at least half an hour

however, once michelle figures out what she's actually feeling (it involves some internal questioning such as 'but wait. why don't i feel like this for my other friends? why is it only willow? maybe its cause we're best friends. but then-') and tells willow, willow is the insanely touchy one. like all her repressed feeling are flowing now that the floodgates are open. grabbing michelle's hand, linking their arms together, curling under the same blanket during movie night, the occasional (who are we kidding - incredibly frequent) random kisses when they're with people who know they're together, willow will do anything to keep touching michelle.
