Next Sunday I'm kicking off the first 2018 workshop at West Elm for a Macrame Workshop. We'll be making a sweet and dainty 6' pennant with some of my vintage yarn stash. My proto will be setup at my coffee bar in my new place, but I can imagine this for parties, in boho chic boudoirs, above windows and French doors, at a workspace with rice lights, so many imaginings...My greatest hope is that this can translate to any material, any size, made again and again, for those you love. Felting is so amazing - when you plan it of course. My last quick Christmas/winter gift for my mom. - . Putting my lovely Falcon wares to good use with two extreme temperature changes. A teeny pan of ice, a teeny pan of boiling water. Back and forth, back and forth + a bit of abrasion. The softly calligraphic alpaca lost its drape and closed up nicely taking shape as a nice little snowman. And felting forgives all sorts of sins which is great for beginning knitters. Cold weather brings warm knits. Cheers to Jo Storie for this chic little turban knit pattern (about 2/3 complete). I could make a dozen! And cheers to my favorite little alpaca farm just outside my hometown. The owner of a tractor supply store has 17 alpacas and though most people go in looking for large equipment, to me this is "the alpaca store" and I promptly clean them out. I spun two skeins last winter and put aside for a rainy day. I had been watching Ms. Storie's pattern for a while and decided that rainy day had come! It's far too cold to wait and I'm far to stubborn to buy one when I can make it! . This fall I got to watch the sheering of his small farm, and every time I watch them I am filled with immense gratitude for fiber farmers and those blessed creatures themselves. I wished this farm was on IG (he's nearing retirement) so I will extend my cheer to fiber farmers everywhere for making our hearts go pitter-patter and keeping us warm and fashionable! - .
