Tomorrow I’m going to try and make time to just do replies.

the sudden     PLUNGE     into darkness unsettled him,     but the echo of a voice     INADVERTENTLY     eased his discomfort.     eyes locating the source of sound,     he noted her likeness to a     BUTTERFLY     ——     annoying,     large    &     way too jittery to ignore.     patience hanging by a thread     (  or possibly,     already absent  )  ,    he edged out a grated snap,     ‘  maybe if you stop     WHINING     &     help me look for an exit, we’ll be able to get ourselves out of this mess! ’

                Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. She tried to keep herself as calm as possible, her muscles tightening into wood that she worried might shatter into splinters under anymore pressure. The female could feel her lungs deflating with each release of carbon dioxide. Her entire life she’d never considered death terrifying until it looked straight into her eyes and laughed. This man certainly wasn’t making the situation easier to handle, he reminded her a lot of Sydney and her big mouth. 

                ❛ I am helping but you’re not helping by just yelling at me. Maybe there just isn’t an exit and we need another plan. ❜

                he has one hand tucked in his hoodie pocket and one hand holding his phone, eyes completely focused on the screen, waiting for it to light up with new instructions. it’s not like he’d been waiting for that long, but he was already starting to get antsy. if this game came out a couple months earlier, he would’ve happily selected watcher, but now there were hospital bills to pay and a part-time job wasn’t cutting it. so now he was in this. when he hears a voice, his eyes are finally drawn away from his phone. it becomes clear pretty fast that she’s a player too. ❛ um no, no idea. i got the thing to come here but nothing else yet. ❜ he bites down on the inside of his cheek. ❛ maybe they were waiting for you to get here first ? ❜

                Beats thundered inside her chest, strikes down into her gut, and a hurricane brewing in her stomach. The idea that had been originally sparked by Sydney was now turning into a rickety roller coaster that Vee was unable to steady herself in, the lap bar ripped off by the sheer adrenaline pounding through the car. At least now there was someone to share in the start screen with her. She averted her gaze from his due to the ding that alerted her of the duo’s newest dare. It didn’t deem itself to be too difficult, though she assumed that it would sky-rocket once they reached the bridge. Vee started to get that tugged feeling that they might be climbing today.

                ❛ Yep, looks like that was it. You’re not scared of heights, are you? Because looks like we’re headed for the bridge. Oh, right, totally forgot to that I have a name that you don’t know. Hi, I’m Vee. ❜

He noted every fear she listed off. It was foolish of her to reveal such a thing to him so EASILY. They were things he would only ever use against her. But not right now. There was only one thing he wanted to focus on right now. She blended in.

                      ❛ Then don’t blend. Stand out. Do something to get people’s attention. Do something to get my attention. It’s got to be scary to try to stand out for someone who doesn’t do that, doesn’t it? ❜

                Tangles of uncertainly, discomfort, and pure DISGRACE layered on top of her intestines as they bowed together. Her brother had made life look so simple while Vee struggled in every aspect of existence. Theo could see through the absurd facade she tried to veil over her reality. 

                ❛ I guess. I don’t know how to even stand out, can’t you give me a push in the right direction? Like I know I should be figuring it out myself but that could take awhile because all I can think of is doing something stupid like pulling the fire alarm which is elementary. ❜

                ❛ So... Looks like the Watchers want us to team up. I’m Venus no one calls me that though, they really just call me Vee. You didn’t need to know that though, sorry, I’ll just stop talking. ❜

                AWKWARD was one word that blazed through in the dictionary of Vee’s traits. She didn’t know how to communicate with anyone, especially not the opposite sex, and certainly not in a situation like this one. An exhale and a melted smile tried to fix her errors thought with small success.

                ❛ You want me to what? I... I don’t think that’s the greatest idea. Maybe we should like do something safer? ❜

                Being skeptical was one of the few things Vee knew was a shining star in her personality. No one could miss the flashing lights of warning upon meeting the female that had been shrinking down as the world grew around her. She wanted to be no one which was the safest way to be.

                One breath in. One breath out. Vee Delmonico could almost reach out to graze her fingertips along the ridged edge of death if she completed this task. Her brother had left behind secrets that were more like bacteria eating away at her gut. 

                ❛ Why me? Why is this happening to me? I didn’t like ask for a supernatural brother. I just want to live a normal life like I never knew werwolves existed. Now I’m pretty sure I’m just going to die. I am expected to die, right? ❜

                She’d been living in the shadow of her brother for years, now was no different. Even in his passing she was put beside him on a pedestal to which she always fell short. Vee would never measure up to everything that he was, it wasn’t POSSIBLE. Although, the fact that he’d been a rebel spy working as a technician for the First Order was something they had not prepared her for. The atmosphere was suffocating. For a moment she stared at the object in front of her, trying to remember the instructions that she was given prior to coming into this control room but the doors opening jolted her attention elsewhere.

                ❛ Oh, excuse me, I’m just here to fix this control pad and I’ll be out of your way. ❜

Johanna’s been waiting for    something like Nerve to come    around. Upon asking her friends,    one of her most common     phrases had to have been ‘do ya    dare me?’. And now, she could do    the stupid things that she did    before, only now, she got money    for it. What could be better.    Flashing the girl beside her a grin,    she nods.  “ Well, if we don’t we’ll be o u t, so             yes. Lead the way, Blondie. ”

                       ❛ You want me to lead the way? Okay, I guess I can do that. I don’t know why you’d want me to but whatever. ❜

Vee started off towards their destination. This was idiotic, she knew it was, but there was this feeling that rumbled inside of her chest whenever she completed a dare. Her confidence level was beginning to rise much like her temperature as soon as she’d realize how stupid her act just was. 

Eyes traveled over to the girl, scanning her Innocence was an easy trait to spot. The desire to get rid of it was even easier. He sensed it from the girl — the desire to be fearless, the desire to be reckless. It was his pleasure to push her there; there was no way this wouldn’t work out for him. If he was the one to pull it from her, it only made her easier to use.

                      ❛ No, it’s not that simple. I don’t know what you’re afraid of yet. How can you prove you’re not afraid if you’re not doing something that scares you? So tell me — what are you afraid of? And do that. ❜

TRUST was too easy for a girl like Vee. She didn’t pick anyone who was ever a healthy influence on her life. Her best friend Sydney was about as awful as they got, that was what she’d assumed until she met someone like Theo who’s smile was filled of spiders and leeches in his touch. 

                       ❛ What am I afraid of? I don’t know, losing my mom, dying alone, really anything involving my brother. Those aren’t really things I can do though. I just blend. ❜

HE HAD been lost in his own world, tracing back the PATH to bane’s apartment  after a not so particularly great night and he came back his senses when he was aware of a SILHOUETTE standing in front of him, furrowed brow is giving in return. ‘ OKAY, alright. SLOW DOWN! Are you the one who is in danger??’ 

Was she in danger? Had she gotten herself too far into this game that it may surely end in disaster? Was Vee doomed for death? The light that once shined inside of her eyes was dulling into a grey, a shade that she’d always believed she was on the outside but a glow from within. 

                       ❛ Maybe, I don’t really know. There’s this game and it’s called Nerve. People are going to get hurt playing it. It’s a death trap. ❜

She’d been sent to a location by the Watchers, though the entire ride they refused to tell her what awaited her when the destination was reached. Vee was starting to get a craving for this daring lifestyle that had been gifted to her through this online world. The money was a bonus, maybe the push her mother needed to break the ties with her daughter that felt more like Rapunzel than her own self anymore. Upon arrival she discovered that she was not alone, instead they’d brought her to a person.
