Forgiving Coruscant
Something has shifted within me that has given me a strange fondness for Coruscant, in a similar way to when something shifted within me when I was about eleven and I stopped having beef with chihuahuas.
It is a gleaming, corrupt mess, yes. Would I want to live there? No. It would probably drive me crazy. I am an animal that needs green space. But a planet with trillions of beings populating it- if I was lucky enough to live on the surface, looking out my window towards the lights around me would feel as vast as looking up to the stars. Every single point of light a sign of life.
I think its status as the generally accepted human homeworld (even though that's debatable) in combination with the Art Deco influence also does a lot for me. Art Deco's peak symbolized a time when we felt we were hurtling towards the future and that it would be a bright and elegant one. Of course, things were already quickly unraveling by then, and that bright future has left us behind and given way to all that's come after. It was never going to be ours anyway, but depictions of it in media and pop culture still get me. It is as tragic as it is uplifting.
I'd want to be an archaeologist there, or a paleobotanist, or something. A house full of endless, quiet adoration and ancient plants native to a world with no soil left.
