Ceramics art dump time! My handmade bowls & plates have been doing some serious heavy lifting, making extremely ordinary meals look 🔥 Sgraffito and underglaze really plays to my 2D art background! I've been experimenting with applying underglaze after firing, then wiping back so that it's just in the crevasses, to get an aged look. Aside from the rectangular plate, these are all my wheel thrown stoneware, fired to cone 10.

Whelp, so here I am, doing my homework at the last minute again. I'm displaying some artwork at Swancon tomorrow, and had a 'what if people ask where I post my art' moment. Which I totally haven't been doing. Sorry. If it helps, I've been feeling at least a little bit guilty about that? AI definitely knocked the wind out of my sails when it came to posting 2D art. Which I still paint. Professionally even! But putting it up just ~feels~ harder. Like, I'll have to deal with AI scraping or people being unsure if my digital art is real? Feels bad, hey. But I have been getting into ceramics over the last couple of years. I'm finally at the stage where I have some pieces I'm genuinely proud of, and those are going into the art show. So I'll post a few here, hope you enjoy them! This little guy is a baby rhino-dragon, I just love his chunky little haunches. I sketched him at last year's Swancon, so it seems fitting he'll be at the next one.

That's a wrap on another Global Game Jam! The theme was "Make me laugh", so Doug and I embraced the silliness with this one. https://shadowmint.com/ggj2024/ Play with a friend, chuck stuff on your jousting lance and make the king laugh. You can check what stuff he finds funny by showing items to him. Also, you can steal stuff from your opponent's lance or get in their way, throw stuff around and other shenanigans. Then joust and see whose won the king's favour! --- I leant hard into the PS1/N64 style graphics on this one! The music was stupid fun to make as well (we went with the mouth noises diversifier, so I had to sing the music, lol, feel I should apologise in advance). Oh! ...and credits: Doug: Coding, voice for the king & sfx Me: Art, animation, level building, music Still amazed there was just enough time for us to get some cinematics in there for the joust sequence, but I'm so glad we did! ...and the corgi, because there's always got to be a corgi. (also kinda thinking about doing a post on the weird game projects Doug and I have made over the years?) (or just like, here are all the corgi cameos?)

I made a gingerbread mimic for Christmas this year!
He was filled with sweets & chocolate (take them if you dare!)
The teeth are white chocolate, tongue is strawberry sour strips and under the treasure are delicious marshmallow guts.
He took a couple of days to bake and decorate, but minutes to demolish.
Painting chunky fantasy monsters is a whole lot of fun! I had a play with gradient maps for these two, the workflow's a bit slower than I'd like, but it's handy for making colour variations, skins etc! Good practise for value painting too.
I felt like animating after seeing the Procreate Dreams announcement! So I did drew a squishy little fella having a day.
I've been scribbling ugly-cute critters lately and decided to make this weird 'lil guy. Meet the bunnybee (or bumblebun, can't decide!) Made with a sculpy base and faux fur, eyes are glass with glitter and paint backing.
Only a million years late lol, but here's my fizzgig in action! I brought him along to Pixel Expo and had a ball (...a fluffy ball?) wandering around the floor with him. He had a good response! A few people tried sticking their hands in his mouth (not recommended), and a couple of candy offerings were made (highly recommended). Also many thanks to Sam for taking the video!

Reddit gets drawn portraits! I gave myself a challenge to do a set in different art styles (art nouveau, painterly, DBZ).

I’ve been working away on a bunch of fun projects and it's high time I posted some of them! I finished this little guy off just in time for Swancon - my second try at a fizzgig puppet! I had to try something extra, so I made him with eyes that blink this time around. His paws can also be puppetted with a second hand so he can chuck proper wailey tantrums! Materials: Air dry super light foam clay (coated with varnish), foam and felt on a wire frame. I cast his eyes in resin and painted the backs. His eyes blink on a hand controlled swivel made from wire. Faux fur is two types hand sewn together with added teased wool strands for the big fluffs. I’ll try to record a video too when I get a chance!
Tired and happy after finishing my GGJ project with shadowmint! The theme this time was “roots”.
Tree of Strife - as a little sprout, save the life tree from parasitic plants. It's a card battler with plant summons and a branching (heh) encounter system. Art, animation & music: me Coding & design: shadowmint We did the long jam and started after the theme release, so we had a couple of extra evenings to work on this one, instead of the normal 48 hours. =) I even had time to write a little bit of music and do some gameplay polish.
You can play in browser here! Pick a red flower to start and encounter and drag cards onto a creature to play them. Clearing an encounter means you can reach further up the branch. You can do as many encounters as you like to get better cards, and face the boss at the top when you’re ready.
